Wall Street journal: Will Newt Stand Down?
The Wall Street Journal ^ | 1/12/12 | STEPHEN MOORE

The buzz is getting stronger that GOP presidential candidate Newt Gingrich will pull back on his planned $3 million ad campaign that accuses rival Mitt Romney of "looting" companies and ruining workers' lives when he headed Bain Capital.

I'm hearing from Gingrich insiders that several top campaign brass want the former speaker of the House to withdraw the 28 minute ad -- which has been universally panned by conservative leaders in recent days. Even Mr. Gingrich himself is said to be having reservations. But other senior advisors of the Gingrich Super PAC, Winning Our Future, want to continue full speed ahead. They dismiss complaints that the ad should be withdrawn and say doing so would only help the Romney campaign.

Bottom line, we need Newt of someone else to clean capitalism up..our real enemies are those amoral people who give capitalism a bad name by misusing it. Is Romney one of those people? Just take a look at what happened in Detroit and Massachusetts.

Never mind that he may not have broken any current laws at Bain..was it right for Romney to strip the assets from a company, leave his fellow Americans out of work and move those jobs to South America?

This is what is destroying capitalism and our freedom..amoral men calling themselves “good” businessmen.

And some may ask...why is it amoral to give those jobs to the South Americans and leave the US behind? Because backstabbing those who lifted you up, your parents and forefathers, is not just amoral, it begs restitution and correction from the furthest branch to the foundation. All of their ventures will die, and the leaf will be left with nothing because they killed the root.

In the end, scorched earth gains evolving the destruction of your own people is really nothing but a loss...and is the ultimate in stupid. Take your gold with you..but you have lost everything real in the process.

I just got back from driving home for lunch (FLORIDA). I heard 3 Winning The Future anti-Romney ads. They were powerful. Very, very good.

Two were the same and mentioned Bain.

The other was more about Mitt’s flip flopping.

Newt’s name was never mentioned.

They could sure do a number on Mitt. Very good ads.

Those ads ran on Rush's show here in L.A.

More useful idiots misconstruing scrutiny of Romney’s Bain Capital record as an “attack an capitalism.”

What makes you think that they are "misconstruing" anything?

I'm sure they know exactly what they are saying, and simply decided that this was the most effective way of framing it for the masses.

We need election reform badly...it’s been totally corrupted. Every government job I held (Fed, state, county or city) required a written test, and in my case shorthand and typing test, to determine eligiblity for the job, and how high you scored determined selectability. I would like to see a presidential candidate put forth by each state, (all 57...sarc) then hold testing to winnow out the top four, make two presidential candidates, and maybe extend it to two vice presidential candidates. Let the people decide which President AND which Vice President. Radical, but anything would be better than what we have now.

"Then putting the districts on a rotating basis eliminating this crap of certain states always get to go first. "

Division into groups is fine. I would prefer instead of a rotation, letting the states earn their position, the top twelve or thirteen states being chosen according to the states' support for the Republican nominee in the last election, reddest states go first. (For the Republican Primary. Dems can do their own thing.)

Remember when Gingrich sent out that legal notice to all media warning them not to run that false ad Romney put out because it falsely claims he was fined in the 90’s and has more false info in it? Well, Fox just showed the whole ad in this interview with Jim Talent with the Romney campaign today:

Dear Friend and Supporter,

This campaign is on the cusp of history. As South Carolina voters begin to focus more clearly on the race, it’s obvious that Speaker Gingrich is the candidate favored by conservatives. He’s the candidate with bold ideas and conservative solutions, and that’s exactly what we’re seeing in recent polls.

The InsiderAdvantage poll released today showed Speaker Gingrich in a statistical tie for first place in South Carolina! This is a great sign that our strategy is working: by highlighting Newt’s conservative credentials and focusing on Obama’s failed policies, we’re able to clearly show who the next President should be.

We have a very strong ground game in South Carolina, perhaps the strongest of all the candidates. Where this race will be won or lost, however, is on the airwaves. In order to spread Newt’s message and reach enough voters to win in South Carolina, we’ve set an urgent fundraising goal of $1 million for Newt’s South Carolina Victory Fund. We need to raise the resources RIGHT NOW to compete. Please, stand with Speaker Gingrich and make a generous donation today.

Thank You,

Michael Krull

I agree. One date for all states.

I respectfully disagree. My solution would have the reddest states in the previous presidential election go first with the bluest going last.

Since Iowa and NH went for O, they'd still be waiting for their turn.

This would provide incentive to the state GOP organizations to get the highest percentage they possibly can in every general election. The states that show the most support for the GOP (and probably the most conservative by the way) would be rewarded with the first primaries and caucuses.

I emailed Newt about this idea back in 2008 when we got McCain. Newt never responded.

This is one of the low points in the campaign. Gingrich and Perry joining the occcupy / leftist crowd to attack capitalism. ingrich should be taking out ads on romneycare and not bain. Gingrich jumped the shark on this one.
