Everyone should be proud that a kid was home alone and had to deal with this situation? Where the hell is the 2 parents?? One parent???? Where the heck was the person that was supposed to be responsible for this child, who has access to a shotgun? Where the fludging palacitude is the father and the mother?
He was with his 18 year old sister. He wasn’t home alone.
Did you read the article? The boy was 14 and his sister was 17. My parents used to hire a 9 year old girl to babysit us when they went out for the evening. At the time, there were four of us, ranging in ages from 2 to 7. I suppose my parents should have been locked up. But this was in Wyoming, mid-1950’s. Kids were taught a little more responsibility in those days.
Oh come on, a 17 year old and a 14 year old are perfectly well left home alone.

The boy is 14. His sister, home at the time, is 17.
In most states 12 or 13 is allowed as an age to babysit. Let alone stay home alone!
Parents are not required to stay home with kids until they are 18, for heaven’s sake.
All my life I had to move my daddy’s pistol if I needed something out of his sock drawer. I could shoot that pistol when I was half this boy’s age.
Growing up with guns is normal for a lot of us, and we were taught right from wrong where gun safety was concerned.
I’m an over protective mother hen sometimes, but 14 is plenty old enough to stay home alone. This boy knew exactly what to do and did it.
What more do you want?
