The most likely explanation:
You are unfamiliar with the OSX experience, so you resist change, even if for the better.
If you have some essential piece of software which runs only on Windows, you can run Windows inside a VM in OSX. This used to be a valid argument against adoption of Mac OSX, but is no longer valid.
FYI, I am a software developer, and there is simply no comparison between Windows and Mac OSX. I have not used Windows 8 yet, but I rather doubt that Microsoft have their act together, even after all these years.
there are many problems with mac, first and foremost the users who come into threads like this with comments like yours.
if macs were so good then Microsoft wouldn’t still own the desktop environment even after all their mis-steps.
FYI incase you didn’t know new mac’s come with bootcamp already there so all you need now is to install windows or do it the easy way and order it already installed for an extra $100.
I have no fear of OSX...I just don't like Apple and will never own one of their products. A personal choice. By the same token, I hate Windows 7 and 8.
For 10 hours everyday I live on the CLI...Unix and Linux. I've been doing it for 20 years. So I guess there is no juice to your assumption that I resist change.
In fact, your assertion sounds very much like the song of The Collective. "You will be assimilated. Resistance is futile."
Virtual machines are a great defense against malware.
If you want to be immune, just set up a couple of virtual machines with Ubuntu installed to use for web browsing only. Take a snapshot in each right after installation is complete. Use one of them only for banking, brokerage, and e-commerce. Use the other for all other browsing. First of all, you won't get a virus, because Ubuntu is even more immune than Mac OS. But, if you do, the damage will be confined to the VM, and you can erase it in seconds by reverting the VM back to its post-installation snapshot.
