Gingrich pitch to conservatives: Don't vote for Santorum

Myrtle Beach, South Carolina (CNN) - Newt Gingrich delivered a staunch warning to South Carolina conservatives Monday: "Any conservative who votes for anyone but Newt helps elect a moderate as the nominee."

Gingrich was speaking to a tea party-friendly audience in South Carolina's Horry County when he painted presidential frontrunner Mitt Romney as unelectable in a general election.

"Ask yourself this simple question: Why would you want to nominate the guy who lost to the guy who lost to Obama?"

"The only reason [Romney] is electable right now is because he has raised more money from Wall Street to buy more ads than anybody else in the race, and we're not going to win that game," Gingrich said. "If you count how much money you can raise as the number one test of electability, Obama's going to drown him."

Gingrich has five days to drive home the message that Romney can't beat President Barack Obama. In order to stop the former Massachusetts governor's crushing momentum, Gingrich needs to rally conservatives behind him over competitor Rick Santorum, who has strong evangelical support and has fared better than the former House speaker in Iowa and New Hampshire.

"If you're a conservative, just look at the polls. I am the only candidate capable of stopping a moderate from winning the nomination," said Gingrich.

I totally agree. Even if Mittens wins a bunch of states, this Proportional Delegate scheme the RNC has in place keeps 2nd and 3rd place finishers in contention. The GOP designed this thing to keep the Primaries going longer. Why not oblige them. You don't see Paul looking at bailing. He sees this new set up as a strategy to force a brokered convention. Even if Mittens rolls into the Convention with all the delegates he needs, using arcane rules about the 4 Caucus states, a candidate can force a Brokered Convention right off the bat and then all bets are off.

Unless Newt and Santorum miraculously join forces somehow, Romney is the GOP nominee (and by implication, Obama wins reelection).

This is it. Mark your calendars—Jan 21st, 2012. The de facto date which ushered in 4 more years of Obama.

Government assault on religion is currently a much worse problem than government forcing religion on people.

Santorum is decidedly not a theocrat.

Case in point: I am a Reformed Protestant. Santorum is a Roman Catholic.

If one listens to some of the public vitriol between a very small percentage of people in those two groups - literally a handful of people - one would surmise that a Reformed Protestant would be screeching in terror at the thought of a Roman Catholic - who actually takes his professing of the Christian faith seriously - as President.

Nothing could be further from the truth. First of all, no sensible person thinks that he would be able to require citizens to convert to Roman Catholicism - such talk is rubbish. Secondly, any Christian who obviously and publicly lives his faith would be seen as a great help to the nation by any other Christian who does the same.

As far as those Americans who are not actively living according to the Bible, many of those poor souls are concerned about a President and Congress who might do even the smallest thing to curtail illicit pleasures in even the slightest way.

To such "patriot" citizens, it is not their God, first, nor their country, nor even their family. They only get riled up when the open immorality is threatened. This is exactly what is ingrained into them by the left-wing news media, entertainment media, public schools and universities. These modern-day "patriots", unlike those from the founding of America, howerver, are not "fighting for freedom" as our patriot forefathers did, but "fighting" for the cause of immorality, of all things. What person in their right mind would value preserving their option to engage in immorality so much that they would sooner vote for a person like Obama for President ?

Not wanting to give one inch, for fear they might have to on day be faithful to their spouses and live like responsible adults instead of misbehaving children, they fear any politician who does not come across like Bill Clinton, for whom anything was acceptable as long as you're not held accountable by anyone or any thing.

IMHO, America has slipped quite enough into immoral thought and behavior, and more of the same will doubtless produce even more failure and suffering.

To say that somehow a President Santorum would become an "evil dictator" and "force" his brand of morality on every American is to buy into the myth of the far left hook, line and sinker.

What the far left fears is that a President Santorum might appoint conservative judges, might veto their left-wing legislation, or just might balk at the idea of letting corrupt banksters loot the Treasury. And perhaps he might inspire Americans just a bit to think that maybe being good is not all that bad.
