RUSH: Amy in Palm Beach Gardens, Florida, great to have you on the EIB Network. Welcome.

CALLER: Whoa. Thank you so much, Rush. It's a thrill to talk to you.

RUSH: Thank you.

CALLER: Yeah, I just wanted to call and let you know and your listeners know that there are some of us out here that are enthusiastic about Mitt Romney. You know, they're not all vote-by-default.

RUSH: I know there are a lot of people enthusiastic about Romney.

CALLER: Well, I mean the pundits just carry on as if it's all by default. And even, you know, the other Republicans running against him keep coining him as this terrible moderate Republican in Massachusetts, and I look at that and I say, "Well, the point is when he was in Massachusetts he ran on those issues and he kept his promises. He kept his commitment, and he governed in that state the way in which he was elected." And I think, you know, as hard as it is to trust politicians, we have to at some point, and so we do, we look at a person's character and the way that they -- you know, have they kept their commitments? Have they done what they said they would do? And, you know, I'm gonna trust Mitt Romney --

RUSH: What is the one -- well, top two criticisms of Romney that conservatives make that you don't like to hear?

CALLER: Hmm. Well, some of the people in my circle of friends, the Mormon thing comes up and they seem to think that the evangelical people will not vote for him because he's not conservative enough.

RUSH: Yeah, but that hasn't been a part of the campaign yet, nobody's talking about his Mormonism, yet.

CALLER: Well, that's true, and that's what I tell them as well, but --

RUSH: Well, what I'm getting at here is that people that don't like Romney have heard him say, "I'm not a conservative Republican, I'm a moderate." They see he will not back off at all his support for Romneycare, which two of his advisers are now saying that the Obama administration has used as their model for Obamacare.

CALLER: Yeah, but he's clearly said the first thing he's gonna do is repeal Obamacare. And I think he's made that clear, and I believe that's what he'll do. You know, I believe he has the vision to, you know, bring our country back on track and make some important, tough decisions.

RUSH: Well, how long have you been a Romney supporter?

CALLER: Well, I voted for him in 2008. I thought he was the best choice then.

RUSH: Okay.

CALLER: Then the primary, of course.

RUSH: Well, I'll tell you, you're about to be tested.

CALLER: (laughing)

RUSH: No, no, you are. I just want to tell you now, I just want to prepare you, if Mitt Romney's the nominee, get ready, because the media, the Democrats, are gonna be attacking him as a wishy-washy moderate. They're gonna claim that they got the idea of Obamacare from him. They're gonna praise him, they're gonna tie him to Obamacare like no other Republican could be. At the same time, they're going to attack him as a far-right kook on a lot of things, and they will bring up the Mormon business. The Mormon business did not come up with Jon Huntsman, either, and he's a Mormon. And it never comes up with Dingy Harry, and he's a Mormon.

Conservatism shifted to the left, that is all.

I completely disagree. The Republican party shifted to the left, has been going that way for many years.

Conservatives have not changed, the R's are leaving us.

Conservatism shifted to the left, that is all. The conservatives have become liberals, the liberals have become marxists, and the marxists have the presidency.

Nonsense. Conservatives cannibalized their own in this election cycle looking for the perfect candidate, allowing Romney a path to the nomination.

No, it is not dying. We do not have a leader, a fighter, a patriot who will put their country before all else.

Two thumbs up FRiend!

“Now we get Romney because it is his turn and we could very well lose.”

Bank on it.

The tea Party and 2010 proves it.

One could argue the Tea Party gave us Romney because too many refused to except a candidate that wasn't perfect.

Conservatives have failed to be smart enough to pick and rally around the most conservative alternative to Romney, allowing him a path to victory.

Isn’t Palm Beach Gardens a country club type of place?

The Tea Party never had the chance to rally around a Conservative candidate, the media made sure it never happened.

Think Cain and Palin.

Have to remember, we have no one at the Top of the party advancing conservatism. Our leaders are wimping out most of the time to the politically correct media. They are the moderates. They are in power (Mccain- and others). They are not about to give that up. They cut us off; to get a moderate verision they approve of. They planted candidates to hurt others. Huntsman and Paul. Paul has given them more of the same in which he decries. Tell me that is not silly. This would had been a perfect election for a conservative to have pushed this markist agenda back, Now, we are sitting here worried about another moderate flip-flopper representing our ideas. The very person who basically wrote Obamacare/which is forcing a citizen to have insurance.

It would be a lot easier to seperate Romney from Obamacare if the same advisors who helped Romeny produce his plan had not been used to create the Obama plan. If the nod goes to Romney, you can flush Obamacare as an issue.

That you don't consider Bachmann, Perry, Gingrich or Santorum conservative is the problem.

All are even if they aren't perfectly conservative and anyone of them would/would have been a much better nominee than Romney.

We have socialist that have always believed in the concept of taking from the working class and giving to the rich and the rich that help them.

Decades ago both parties were mostly conservatives. The rich have learned to vote themselves money and has left us.

Conservatism is dying.

My only question at this point isn't how to save conservatism because it can not be saved after the rich left us. but how do we create a government that will always revert to socialism.

“Conservatism is dying”

Please do not be discouraged. Conservatism has never been tried.

“We do not have a leader. a fighter, a patriot who will put their country before all else.”

Of course we do. God set him on this road, trained him in the ways of service through scouting and church. He gave him a great sense of humor and made him a proud Texas Aggie. He forced him to look challenges in the eye and say no to those who would have him compromise his beliefs. He was made to wait his turn each step of the way.He flew C-130 aircraft in the Air Force. He worked hard at marriage and has been an admirable parent. He is a good friend to all and helps strangers. Being a Christian means something to him and he doesn’t waste his life searching for a God who may hide in different religions. He’s confident. He’s a Patriot. He’s the leader of the Republican Governor Association. His name is Governor Rick Perry. BUT, he’s from Texas so that’s that. Next.

Steve, don’t give up. We need the right leader, that’s all. Romney is not it. Someone, out there will need to lead a positive fight. At least, we have each other until that leader steps up.

It certainly is being redefined towards center left. There are simply not many citizens who have any idea of what is in the Constitution nor what the framers had in mind for this Republic. Sad, but true.

You are missing the point why conservatism is dying.

It isn't dying because it is leaderless or poor ideas. It is dying because the governmental system we have accommodates socialism.

If your post was sincere:
Not true. But the way we regain our rightful authority in this nation is not apparent...yet.

If your post was frivolous:
Not helpful.

I voted for Romney in the 2008 primary, too, but that was an anti-McCain vote. Now I’m looking for the anti-Romney vote.

Romney sure can talk the talk. He sure SOUNDS conservative, but everything about him gives me the heebie-jeebies.

Doesn't matter how great the constitution was originally or how well the people understand what was intended originally.

Any form of government no matter how great it was originally will always grow and will always revert to some type of socialistic state.
