Recallers to present petitions to oust Gov. Walker

Those seeking to recall Wisconsin Gov. Scott Walker will be presenting petitions to the state today with over 500,000 signatures, setting up a recall election possibly in June 2012.

While Gov. Walker's reforms helped Wisconsin erase a $3.6 billion state budget without raising taxes it was his changes that affected state unions that set off the avalanche of protest. Collective bargaining and mandatory union membership is no longer required in Wisconsin, but the change now requires union members to pay a portion of the health care and retirement perks.

So what agenda does the recallers and protesters promote? Bigger government, more social programs, more union perks, assaults on taxpayers, assaults on business and industry, and more. The recall of Gov. Walker is an important national event. If you support the efforts of Gov. Walker, visit his web site today and support him:

Its going to be very interesting to see how many signatures they have. They have definitely walked back from the boast of 1 million signatures.

If its 600K to maybe 750K the recall portion will fail. Fraudulent sigs will put them under the needed number.

Its countdown day to the number here in Wisconsin :)

We've lived through this for 60 days now and the strain it's putting on everyone is starting to show. Very slowly the outrage has been building, having the re-callers violate private property to get signatures, videotaping everyone. Things are definitely starting to turn Walker's way. I find it stunning how many of the re-callers are brainwashed into thinking they're doing “Gods work.” It would be wonderful if they don't have enough names, however clearing off 200,000 names will be hard.

I think the lowest property tax bills in a long time will be the final nail in the coffin for the Unions here. I hope their death is slow and miserable over the next 6 months.

We may end up having our own Jonestown on the Capitol Mall after Walker wins.

Wonder how many dead people, illegal aliens and Duffy Ducks are on those petitions? Quite a few, I’d wager.

General Francisco Franco was unavailable for comment, but he did sign one of the recall petitions.

Good question.

Polls have been rather quiet of late.

Yeah, they have... in November, majorities wanted him recalled. I wonder if the kool-aid has worn off, yet.

I've been trying to find an article I read last week. It shows where the recall goons are actually not adhering to the legal timeframe outlined in our state statutes.

The law allows them to have 60 days to collect signatures. Somehow the first day wasn't counted and the 60 days was up on Friday. If that is the case then they failed, simply because nothing was submitted on time. I found an article where one of the Republican Senators up for recall made that point but the original thing I saw was much more detailed.

If there are any attorneys on FR that want to donate their services, I would be interested in filing suit. I just can't afford to hire one myself.

Here is what I found today, but again, the earlier article laid it out more completely:

1/13/12 - Wisconsin’s Senate majority leader says those who are trying to recall him and four other Republicans should be forced to turn in their petitions today instead of Tuesday. Scott Fitzgerald of Juneau filed a complaint yesterday with the Government Accountability Board. He said today should be the filing deadline because it’s the 60th day after the recall campaigns were kicked off on November 15th. But the Justice Department issued a memo this week saying the clock didn’t start until November 16th, the day after the recall committees registered. That means signatures can be collected tomorrow and filed on the next business day – which is Tuesday, since state offices are closed Monday for the Martin Luther King holiday. In Fitzgerald’s case, the extra day might allow recall organizers to get enough signatures to force an election. They need 16-thousand-742. They had around 16-thousand as of Wednesday, and organizer Lori Compas has asked volunteers from other recall efforts to knock on doors in Fitzgerald’s district today and tomorrow to get signatures. The Board expects a million-and-a-half signatures to be filed to try and force recall elections against Governor Scott Walker and the other Republicans.

You are correct. Walkers democratic opponent in the last election received 1,004,303 votes. If the recallers don’t have more valid signatures then the 1,128,941 who voted for Walker the whole excercise is just a fart in the wind.

The exercise is a waste as you say UB, but win the recall by double digits this time and it may well pave the way for a conservative renaissance in WI for years to come.

The childish antics of the left will be seen as even emptier if they get crushed in this recall and then continue the temper tantrum.

BTW couldn’t you see them coming with 1,128,942 signatures? I guess it would be a better talking point than 800,000. :)

If (GOD forbid) he was to be recalled, please send him down here to the People’s Republic of Illinois. How I wish we could recall the mighty Quinn.
