FLORENCE, S.C. – Injecting a big dose of testosterone into the presidential debate, Republican candidate Newt Gingrich said on Tuesday that he wants to “knock out” President Obama in the general election in response to a question about whether he wants to bloody his nose.

At a town hall meeting attended by about 200 people at the Art Trail Gallery, a supporter told Gingrich, “We’ve got to bloody Obama’s nose. You’ve mentioned challenging him to seven, three-hour debates.… If he doesn’t agree to that, how do you plan to aggressively take the gloves off and go after him?” Gingrich responded, “I don’t want to argue with you about the analogy. I don't want to bloody his nose, I want to knock him out.”

The audience applauded

I really like this kind of talk.

Unhappily, many people in America think this sort of discussion is crude and rude and uncivil.

So was America’s founding.

Good Lord, the nation is full of wussies.

I guess you missed out on the ‘90s Contract with America, 4 balanced budgets, etc.

Newt Gingrich has done more to put Ronald Reagan’s conservative policies into government practice than anyone else presently running for the Republican Party presidential nominee position.

I usually ignore endorsements, as they’re usually quid pro quo arrangements, but Gingrich is now endorsed by Michael Reagan, Art Laffer, and numerous other former Reagan administration officials.

When Newt was in Congress, President George H.W.Bush had decided to announce he would work with the Congress and raise taxes, thus violating his “Read my lips...” promise. Congressman Gingrich wouldn’t support that action. I view Newt’s act as conservative, and not the action of a RINO.

Newt Gingrich is pro-life, pro-2nd Amendment and loves America and understands its citizens. As a historian, he thoroughly knows the U.S. Constitution and our nation’s history.

He allied himself with Ronald Reagan to build the Reagan Coalition, the Religious Right, and the Republican majority (together the Reagan Revolution) which directly led the downfall of the Soviet Union, the Contract with America, government reforms, less government, tax cuts, a balanced budget, and the great, longstanding Reagan economy.

Washington is broken, it doesn’t work the way it is supposed to and Newt said, if elected, he will work to change the way Washington does business.

No one else running as a Republican has done as much for Conservatism in this nation. Gingrich isn’t perfect, but who is?

Yeh he really falls down with all the balanced budgets, welform reform, lowering taxes and creating a million jobs. He just sucks. I wish John Boehner was that crappy of a Speaker.

Yep...Gingrich is great on talk...not so good on action when he’s handed power.

“Nap through the eighties and nineties didja? Or are you too young to remember? By the way, if he didn’t still have the dagger scars in his back, he probably would have a lot more support from Boner and company. Coincidence Boner is running things now. Hey, wait a minute....could there be a connection?

U.S. House Speaker John Boehner said Republican presidential candidate Newt Gingrich is a “big thinker” who isn’t necessarily “as conservative as some people think.”

In spite of their “very different styles,” Boehner said he and Gingrich “worked very closely together.” He said the two are “still good friends,” though Boehner said he was unfairly blamed by some other House Republicans for an unsuccessful bid in 1997 to remove Gingrich from his speakership.”

Heh heh heh ... we’ll see, won’t we John?

Heard this yesterday (caller on Rush) & thought it was pretty good:

Newt has a lot of baggage, but we know what his baggage is. Obama has a lot of baggage but we're not allowed to look in his suitcase.

Gingrich is an excellent debater, there's no doubt about it. But Obama knows this. If anyone thinks Obama is going to agree to 7 3-hour debates with Gingrich, they're absolutely crazy. Gingrich will get what everyone gets - a few one hour moderated debates. If it were all decided on debates, I would say go with Gingrich, but the problem is that most of this will be fought on the retail politics side, and Obama is far superior on that score than Gingrich. Can you see the fat, old, disheveled Gingrich out kissing babies? With Callista?! It just doesn't work. Santorum, Romney, Perry and Paul are all superior on that score. Newt is like a nuclear weapon - he's incredibly leathal - but you can only use him in rare scenarios...and he comes with fallout.

I agree completely.Do you think Obozo would agree to any debate when he didn’t get the questions ahead of time?he would be seen as the stuttering buffoon we all know him to be.

I look at this election as one of those rare scenarios where we need the nuclear option.

Go Newt!

Well, the one thing you left out is that, agree with him on all issues or not, Newt appears to really have firm convictions, and going along with that, he has some real backbone... something we haven't seen in a loooonnng time!

Perhaps(?), Newt understands what many conservatives refuse to acknowledge:

We are at WAR with the left and it is time to take the gloves off!!!

Newt comes with fallout?

Hmmm….

Speaker Gingrich-led Republicans….the result:

* Voting on each of the Contract with America items
* Four consecutive balanced budgets
* $405 billion of debt paid off
* Major welfare reform accomplished
* 11 million new jobs for America
* Unemployment falling to under 4%.

Of all the things I would expect to see posted about Newt, this would rank as dead last.

Just damn!
