That needed better editing in the article. The writer is referring to Tim McGuirk and Time magazine, John Murtha, and the anti-military American Left that was working so hard at the time to undermine OIF and the Coalition Forces.
Sir, that statement said “lesser men.” Not those Marines.
Who then? I explained it in the next to last paragraph, “The enemy is solely to blame for every death that occurred that day; Al Qaeda and Sunni insurgents hid among and initiated fights behind defenseless women, children, and old men.”
