Meaningless. Each of the candidates has taken some similar action(s) that can be paraded to impugn their conservatism.

The important question now is where socons go after Santorum.

Also, it’s funny now to think back to when Newt “blew up” his campaign right as he announced it with some stupid remark I can’t even remember now. He was totally written off. Campaigns are funny that way sometimes.

Well, I would phrase it that each candidate has had charges made against them, that pertain to their Conservatism.  Some of those charges are completely untrue.  Others are gamed to imply something that isn't true.  Some of them have been developed by people who are Leftists, and attack all Republicans, let alone Conservatives.  Then again, some of the charges do raise concern.  It just depends if they are true or not, and whether there is a valid explanation or not..

I would also submit, that the infraction mentioned, is more than a simple venture off the Conservative beaten track.  For instance, I can understand a guy backing the wrong legislation.  I cannot buy into a guy infringing on personal rights and freedoms.

The important question now is where socons go after Santorum.

I won't be voting for Romney come hell or high water.  I'm not going to set Conservatism up to be blamed for everything another pretender does.  As for Newt, I'm going to have to give that some very serious thought too.  This guy can't decide if he wants to be Nancy Pelosi or Ronald Reagan from one moment to the next.

Also, it’s funny now to think back to when Newt “blew up” his campaign right as he announced it with some stupid remark I can’t even remember now. He was totally written off. Campaigns are funny that way sometimes.

Yes they are.  My bet is that Newt is going to turn into the gift that keeps on giving.  I don't think he can help himself over the long haul, and if he should get elected, he'll be paving the way for the next McCain or Obama.

It sure would be nice to see a true Conservative run some day.
