I loved the 1980 version of Newt Gingrich. He would have made a great president. The post 1998 version, not so much.

Headline implies there is something negative in the memo. Couldn’t be more positive. Not sure what the point of this article is.

The MSM will never report this...it does not line up with the left party line and would be “off the reservation.”
But you can bet Gingrich himself will bring it up and act upon it...thereby throwing a wrench into their “reservation” politics as regards the black community...to keep them there, with their rascist views that somehow that community cannot make it without their help.
Gingrich can show them that they can help themselves and pull themselves up without a liberal politician for a step father.

With members of the mainstream media now hurling charges of using racially coded language against GOP presidential candidate Newt Gingrich, Big Government has uncovered a private memorandum written over three decades ago that offers a unique glimpse into Mr. Gingrichs longstanding attitudes about race."Racially coded language" from "over three decades ago" - and from the ever impartial "mainstream media" no less!
Sounds more like something from Al Sharpton or the DNC!

He urged Reagan to address the NAACP, an organization made up of blacks to support blacks, and that’s called racist?
He advocates a social security savings fund, which would actually be the property of black men, and that’s called racist?
I may not support Newt for President, but I’ll defend him against charges made up to buttress the idea he is a racist. Baloney!
He noted the shorter life span of blacks, and proposed they own their own retirement funds, so they wouldn’t be cheated out of their funds. That does black men a service. It was the right thing to do, and I support it 100%.

Juan Williams will be troubled by this. Painting Newt as a closet racist just became much more difficult.

Hell, Romney was a member of a racist church in 1978.
So was Obama in 2008.

None of the GOP candidates have ALL the parts and pieces. The one who comes close for me is Newt Gingrich. His dialogue and his attitude remind me of a political version of Clint Eastwood's "Dirty Harry" character... crude, but a solid advocate for basic justice in an intended Neanderthal way.
Honestly, if anything were to change it would have to be under the circumstances that a "Dirty Harry" just started BLASTING with his .44 magnum.

That was good. Contrast that with Ron Paul’s writings around the same time.
