I believe that if Newt steps down because of what his wife reveals then Palin will take the chance and jump in and suck the air out of Romney’s campaign no matter how much money he has. Santorum wouldn’t have a chance against her either. Conservatives would flock to her.

This used to be a standard ploy of Southern politics. Level an outrageous charge against your opponent just before the election and too late for the opponent to refute.
For common sense voters, the Smearing will be a bit too much, and they are tired of having the Threat to Romney ALWAYS attacked with Smear Campaigns.
Look for Romney-the-RINO to condemn the ads, as if he didn't scream for help from somewhere in the Party to keep him from losing in SC.

Tanks for the psycho-babble. Newt is 10 times the man that Romney is with his one wife and one religion. Mittens is boring, flighty and stupid. Newt has gravitas, is quick and nimble. Mitts Wall Street baggage, off shore accounts and 15% tax rate render him unelectable this year. Newt infidelities are not unusual these days (unfortunately)and have been out in the open for years.
Marianne Gingrich can blab and blab...Won’t impact much because Newt is way too cute. (Newt is on his second religion I think, he is Catholic now)

What I gather from that account of arms dealing is that Newt Gingrich never did anything wrong, and everything else is innuendo and any investigation was stopped as being inappropriate during a democratic administration.
Is throwing out old unsupported suspicions, probably politically motivated, enough to kill a presidential campaign?
It would depend on how dramatically they were presented, I suppose.
