The Inner Quest of Newt Gingrich (1995: Marianne Promised To "Undermine Everything" For Newt)
PBS.org ^ | September, 1995 | Gail Sheehy

Posted on 01/18/2012 5:23:38 PM PST by TitansAFC

........But his greatest presidential stumbling block may be right under his nose. At home, Newt's second wife, Marianne Ginther Gingrich, tells me she doesn't see herself in the First Lady's job. "Watching Hillary has just been a horrible experience," commiserates Marianne. "Hillary sticking her neck out is not working."

What happens if Newt runs?, I ask.

"He can't do it without me," she replies. "I told him if I'm not in agreement, fine, it's easy" --she giggles at her naughtiness. "I just go on the air the next day, and I undermine everything...I don't want him to be president and I don't think he should be."

Why not?

"Right now, the presidency is not a single person. It's not so much what he'd be doing. It's what I'd be doing.".........

I hope that Gingrich can stop Romney in South Carolina before this has any impact. Hopefully, Rick Santorum will start getting some major donations soon.

Yeah, let's get people to switch candidates again. How many times is it this campaign cycle?

Like a herd of spooked timid sheep.

Palin to Perry to Bachmann to Cain to Gingrich.

Where are we going next? Santorum?

Somehow it will be different if we switch one more time, right?

Unbelievable.

Really.

Of course, but Newt is not innocent. The voters will decide how they feel about this but it is a good thing to have this come out now.

Suppose any other GOP presidential candidate were found to have had a affair ? how would the Newt supporters threat that person ? would they be condemned ? or given a free pass that Newt is getting ?

A lot of the Newt supporters are former Cain supporters. Does that answer your question?

Dobson must think Jimmy Carter was a fine president.

I’m a little shy of 50/50 if it’s Mitt. I’ll likely vote for a third party or maybe write in someone, or maybe even “protest vote” for Paul, who I consider a nutjob.

And you have no clue in trying to define my politics by my posting history.

You are your words on FR. Posting history tells everything.

Let's see - if I'm counting right, we may well find ourselves with our three top conservative contenders down and basically one top contender remaining.

At some point, we may have to get serious about the possibility of a general election between "The One Who we have been waiting for" and Romney. If so, are we going to vote against Obama or not vote (= a vote for Obama). Another four years of Obama is worst case scenario IMO.

A word about the GOP:

I wonder how long the GOP has been a soft Liberal party. I believe Reagan stole the party back from the Liberals ("moderates") in 1980. Eisenhower allowed taxes and government to grow crazily in the 50's. How far back do you have to go? I think sometime in the late 1800's/early 1900's, America found itself without a political party that would put America and its Christian, traditional values first. I think ever since then the GOP has put its own interests and political perpetuation ahead of what's best for America.

The country has withstood an amazingly long period of time without sustained organizational and institutional support. May God Himself continue to bless and uphold America against her enemies, within and without, until He returns for His own.

I could care less how long you are here.

Nice try though. You are as divisive and rude as anyone I’ve met on the internet in a long time.

Should not any other person who has been caught or confessed to infidelity be forgiven then ?

If they are sincere (and this is the tricky part which requires our individual judgment), then yes of course they should be forgiven.

The voters will decide how they feel about this but it is a good thing to have this come out now.

It still won't help Romney. A story with no legs that will fail.

Why? Because Newt asked forgiveness, quit drinking, and gave his life to Christ after he was a bad husband. (married to a bad wife)

If we cannot forgive Newt, how do we forgive Santorums wife, for dating most of 20s the doctor who delivered her as a baby,, a man 40 years older who was an abortionist? Did Saint Ricky S forgive that?

Or is forgiveness only granted ABOVE the Mason-Dixon line?

But, if I might add, the “proof is in the pudding” - in other words, is the person apparently living a reformed life in agreement with his/her asking for forgiveness?

It was YOUR nasty post that got my attention.

And I was fascinated reading your short posting history about Mormons and Huntsman and Romney's cabinet choices. Your rude post made sense then.

What's coming out "now"?

This post and the first interview were in 1995.

And why is it that Newt supporters tend to be the most nasty?

Santorum is the only one who can stop Mitt. Newt doesn’t have a prayer, mostly because he can’t control his temper... much like some here.

You very well may be correct. I didn't read all of it carefully but it may, or may not hurt him at all. Actually, everyone already knew he cheated on two wives so the only thing new here are details.

The voters will decide.

It is being broadcasted a few days before the election. That is dirty and spin it anyway you want..it has nothing to do with the urgent issues facing this nation and Newts ability to turn this country around.
So? it was discussed on FR. FR has more in depth exchanges than the MSM and freepers do more homework on every issue than the MSM.
It is clear that you detest Newt...but most of us KNOW a dirty trick when we see it...and this ranks way UP there! I do hope the moderators at tomorrows debate in SC ask Newt about this...he will straighten everyone out and maybe (to your disdain) get a standing O! GOOOOOOOOOOO NEWT!!!!
