Biden’s oops moment in SF: “Giants on their way to Super Bowl”

Vice President Joe Biden had his “oops” moment Wednesday speaking in a 49er-crazed San Francisco when he told a crowd at a city political fundraiser that “the Giants are on their way to the Super Bowl.”

Biden spoke at a closed event in the city’s financial District at the Bently Reserve when he made the gaffe, according to a White House pool report released today. The comment by Biden drew immediate “good-natured” boos from the crowd, according to the report by Josh Richman of the Oakland Tribune, who was the only local print reporter allowed to cover the event.

After suggesting that the Giants were heading to the Super Bowl, Biden quickly recognized the gaffe and and explained he was accustomed to thinking in terms of the San Francisco Giants and their baseball wins. His next reference was to the “49ers on their way” to the Big Game.

Next, he’ll predict that the California Golden Seals will win the Stanley Cup.

according to the report by Josh Richman of the Oakland Tribune, who was the only local print reporter allowed to cover the event... Richman reported he was ushered out of the fundraiser after Biden started taking a few questions from the audience... Biden plans to meet this evening with local tech leaders, including the heads of Apple, Google, Yahoo, Netflix and Zynga, but those meetings are not open to the media, the White House said.

Among Barack Obama's first actions as president was signing a memo pledging his administration to "an unprecedented level of openness in government."

Our national media are little lapdogs, panting for table scraps from their master.

And the Giants are going to the Superbowl, where Tom Brady's going to soil his diaper as he faces his third consecutive loss to Eli Manning.

How can he be so stupid and still know how to breathe?

Good thing for him it's an autonomic function, or he'd have been toast a long time ago.

As long as San Fran doesn’t get their sixth ring this year, I’m cool with the Giants. Another win for the NFC East.

Dallas Cowboys - 5
New York Giants - 3
Washington Redskins - 3
Philadelphia Eagles - Their next ring will be their FIRST ring.

That’s 11 rings, 12 if NY wins the SB. The most for any division in the NFL.

Oh, and BTW, Biden su#ks. He reminds me of Jeff Dunham’s Walter only with far less personality.

If a Republican made such a bonehead gaffe, you can bet it would be repeated ad nauseum on every newscast as an example of out of touch those Republicans are with the common guy. Not to mention the endless parodies and skits on the "smart" late-night shows.

But when a Democrat does it, the gaffe makes a brief appearance on Free Republic and maybe a mention on the Rush Limbaugh show and then drops off the face of the earth.

Joe Biden makes one want to quote MT:

Thought this would be a good day to remember Joe’s prediction, in spite of the obvious and usual error, and even in spite of Hurricane Sandy
