“He came to her and said, ‘I want to stay married to you and still have an affair with Calista, his current wife,” said Ross. “According to Marianne, he said ‘You need to share me,‘ and she said ’I don’t want to share,’ and the marriage ended,” he added.

I never said I agreed with it, I am saying I am not going to dig into the parts of someones private relationship. She’s an ex, she’s got an axe to grind.. The allegations could be true, but its pretty clear even by her allegations that the marriage was in trouble before this incident, so are we going to analyze ever step someone makes during a disintegrating relationship? I certainly hope not.
I have met plenty of ex’s both, men and women, who have mental stories in their heads that don’t match up with reality. Domestic disputes are never pretty, and while I may be in the minority on this one, I believe what goes on between two people is there business and theirs alone, if they confide in friends that’s one thing, but taking it massively public? Those people to me have just as much issues as the ones they feel slighted them. Like I said, if you aren’t alleging domestic abuse, I really don’t want to know about your relationship, or why it ended.
I have seen marriages that have lasted that are completely non traditional, I have seen traditional marriages completely crumble.. I am not going to sit and try to judge anothers situation, those relationships are too intimate and too complex to be sound bited.
I am sure if you talked to some of the women I have dated over my lifetime, some would claim I was the worst person in the world... Just as I am sure I hold similar opinions about some of them.
As to your anectdotes, I know more than a few guys, who are married to women who they know are cheating on them, don’t approve of it, but stay married to them.. so before you throw your stones at how men are inately evil, or manipulative, you need to get a bit more perspective.
I didn’t mean to imply that only men cheat, or that it is only wrong when men cheat, just that I believe his ex’s story that Newt made that ‘open marriage’ offer. And you can trash the messenger all you want, that doesn’t change the message.
