How come last week when the same polling showed Romney with a healthy lead, the storyline here was “Rassmussen polling cannot be trusted.” Now that the polling has flipped, is Rassmussen suddenly reliable?

Don't you know how this works? Pollsters have to get more accurate closer to the vote, so that their reputation for accuracy is not destroyed. At other times, they can, if so inclined try to get people on the bandwagon of a perceived winner.
