I’m no Newt fan, in fact just this evening I was expounding on what I don’t like about him, but damn, that was MASTERFUL.

The Emporer’s New Clothes, have been the casual wear of the media for quite some time now. John King just got told he was standing bare assed naked despite what King and others in the media feel about their arrogant biased genius.

Newt did a good job of distracting — but he does have a character problem here. Let’s not pretend otherwise. He says he has changed.

King David and the Apostle Peter also had some character flaws, as I recall. Ditto for Winston Churchill and General Patton.

“At this point, I think Newt is the ONLY candidate remaining who can take Obama to the woodshed in debates. Big time. Can’t imagine Romney doing it or Santorum.”

If it’s Newt, I seriously doubt boy-god would agree to debate him. He would find some excuse not to,,,and the media would agree with it.

God Bless you. Newt is our hope. I believe in my heart he will turn this country around...it will not be easy but he will set America back on the right track. I do not feel easy about Romney. Reminds of a slick car salesman. Walk in to buy a car and tells me it belonged an old school teacher that kept in the garage type thing... and there really is the Romneycare to consider. It was supported by Ted Kennedy who became a friend of Mitts. Romneycare did provide the base for Obamacare.

Romney should release his taxes - when Obama releases his grades and test scores, and explains the tax treatment of his Rezco - house.

Romney’s taxes are undoubtedly complex, and will reveal a lot. Also - undoubtedly - there are some “tax expert opinions” about timings of expenses etc - that the media WILL put “experts” on TV - calling him a tax cheat - right or wrong - every single day.

Look what they are doing now - I happened to drive 8 hours today, channel surfing. NPR covered his taxes and “off shore accounts” once an hour, with “economic experts” spewing juvenile opinions. Not once - mentioning that his accounts are legal, and 15% is the law for capital gains.

Imagine - when they get someone to argue the accelerated depreciation of a gutter spout on some house. “TAx Cheat” !!!!!!!!!!!!” - every single day. Remember the Valerie Plame insanity?

There is zero need to give our enemy any information.

And I don’t even like Romney.

Gingrich demonstrated how to deal with the media - as outright enemies. Attack their credibility - at every minute. Expose their facetious protection of Obama. They ask about taxes - you turn it around - and ask when they are asking Obama about Bill Ayers. Ask about Rezco, and tax accounting of Obama’s house - (illegal). Ask for property tax records, etc.

I was wrong. I thought the reaction of Freepers here was probably because they somehow and in some way privately support the Speaker. The Speaker totally demolished the ole boy and did it in A-1 fashion. Again I apologize. I was wrong.

I disagree. If the moderator had waited, EVERYONE would have been thinking and wondering when the subject would come up and distract the focus on the rest of the debate. Once it was dealt with, the debate moved on and was no longer a distraction.

i agree with you somewhat: i take him at his word. however this is a presidential election, and this issue will be with him all the way. have to face up to it.

I don't agree. I actually think that others in the media will take a look a the beating that King got tonight and say "whoa, I ain't goin' there.... I like my a$$ too much to have it handed it to me." Newt was obviously well prepared for the question but I highly suspect that if this gets raised again, he can crank it up lots more. In fact, as far as details he almost comes across as having a lot more he could say but he's holding back for this reason.

I agree, and yet you use logic as an antedote to a society entertained by sit-coms geared to a 12 year old level, and reality shows. Logic will NOT win the day for the electorate at hand. A smackdown like a wrestling match has a snowball’s chance. What do you want? Perfect argument or winning argument?

Newt has definitely been taking lessons from the Donald Trump Ghetto Beatdown manual. I love seeing these pompous left wing idiots get set back on their butts.

I’m not even a big Newt fan but just damn. Threw high heat and Newt hit it out of the park (having been VERY ready for it). Well done.

I'm not really in Newt's camp either, but I can surely respect the verbal ass-whoopin' he laid on John King. In the interview after the debate, Newt said that he welcomed the opportunity to debate Baraq the Lesser (my sobriquet, not one Newt used), saying that "...Baraq could use his telePrompter, I'll use my knowledge, and we'll all get along just fine."

I'm almost getting to the point where I could consider supporting Gingrich. Not quite there, but if he keeps laying the wood to the backsides of the press like he did tonight, I'll have to seriously consider it.
