If you stop and think like Newt, you'll take a chance and be different. Newt is Clintonion, and Nixonion. He can fight millions of dollars with his mind and his mouth. Think of the Checkers speech, and the loss in '66! I didn't like Newt's going after Romney's business record nationally, but in South Carolina it plays. In South Carolina Newt knows there are blue collar Republicans. The thought of losing their jobs to Indians or Mexicans is real! Newt is fighting to win, and using whatever weapon he has. If he wins in the nomination there will be pandemonium, then watch him through a curve ball by picking Rand Paul! It's a pure Newt move and watch him telegraph it after he wins South Carolina!

He already has started talking about the gold standard. Paul’s 15% is crucial if we are to win the general. Obama got it in 2008. Newt understands that there is an opportunity to pick it up ourself if we throw some bones.

“What if Newt picked Rand Paul?!”

Most of those Ron Paul voters, rather than occupying themselves on election day with debates about Austrian economics between hits off the bong might actually show up to support the G.O.P. ticket.

For once.

Wrong. Watch a Newt townhall meeting sometime on youtube. He has a great connection with young people. How do you think he keeps getting wives so young?

Now that’s the kind of honest analysis I wish we’d get on cable.

That’s exactly right! Newt has an awesome mind. He can sense the anti-piracy law, the gold standard issues, and the problems with young unemployment.

I have a big WHY?

Why not pick Sarah Palin for VP? She is heads above any other candidate out there. It would counter Newt’s image, and this go around she would be let loose to be herself.

Listening to Glenn Beck this AM thinking that he might say something about the debate. Between endless commercials about for crap you don’t need, (e.g. some emergency food rations, a safe, gold etc.), he talks about the debate and like Ann Coulter, I can’t hear one positive thing he says about Newt.

IN FACT, AT ONE POINT, HE HAS IDIOT COHOSTS OVER THERE START CALLING NEWT A “DIRT BAG”....YES, DID ANYONE ELSE LISTEN TO HIM THIS MORNING WHEN HE’S REFERRING TO NEWT AS A “DIRT BAG”?

And Ron Paul for fed chairman. Now that would shake things up.

The VP slot is going to come from a battleground state. PA or OH. Any influence that a VP can bring is needed.

Kasich has been suggested.

If Newt wins SC, a Santorum VP choice is a good possibility.
1. Exchange an endorsement for a VP position - a win-win for both
2. Santorum influences the Pennsylvania vote - a key state

Yes, they’ve had disagreements. If you recall, so did Reagan and Bush (Sr). That seemed to work out well.

I don’t listen to Beck. If he has cohosts doing as you said, and he’s letting that slide, then he’s sunk lower than I realized.

I don’t think he would want the inevitable baggage that would come from picking a Paul as VP. That opens up all kinds of issues with Rand Paul’s father being a nutjob, inviting media charges of insanity by association. Republicans don’t run against Democrats. Republicans run against the media.

Sarah Palin is a much better choice, if only because she’s a known quantity who can fire-up the base. Santorum might be a good choice, as might Jindahl. Rubio might be a good choice, but there are concerns about eligibility there. Mitch Daniels also might be okay. I also like the current governor of Arizona.
