We are especially thankful for the opportunity to meet candidates up close here in SC. My son (Polital Science major) and I both got photos with Newt and Callista... husband was out of town.

I heard Kudlow today on WABC shamelessly blast Newt for exposing what Bain Capital did in its early stages up until capital got hard to get and expensive.
Bain gutted many a small business instead of trying to save them.
They loaded up these companies with borrowed debt in their(the company,not Bain's) name then gave themselves huge dividends with the borrowed cash.after that they watched them go down over the next few years.Shameful,IMHO.
I thought 5p, but I am not certain. About 20 minutes ago, Fox mentioned that it closed in about an hour.
Fox just said that they are going to start reporting polling results.

I get the same sense about what Newt will do as president, as you do. He's at that age where he's got one last chance to make a real mark on America's history.
Future generations won't remember the Speaker of the House who did so much to keep America on the track that Reagan laid before us, but they will remember a president who turned the country away from a deathly fall over the precipice of bankrupt Socialism, and who restored our country to its rightful greatness.
I believe that Newt sees the historic fork in the road ahead, just as well, or better than any of us do. Like us, he knows that this is perhaps the most pivotal point of the last one hundred years, and that the person who sits in the Oval Office for the next four years, will likely determine which fork of that road this country takes.
I don't believe that he would take on this great task, simply to gain another feather in his cap. He knows full well that the times (and the people) will demand extraordinary things of the next president, and that nothing about the job will be 'business as usual'. Whoever sits in that chair starting in January of 2013, is going to be waging a battle like none we've seen in living memory.
I honestly believe that he sees this clearly, and that he's the only one of the four Republican candidates who has mentally prepared himself for that fight.

It is very important for the LSM to try and keep the Conservatives divided. BUT THANK GOD, Conseratives are aware of their lame attempts.
They will back the underdog, count on it!

Arrrrrrrrrrgh. I GIVE UP. There is almost no info on S. Carolina primary on this thread. It has been hijacked by snarky comments about competing candidates.
Several people must have been studying up using rules for radicals, cause they are using them right and left. And the redundancy is astonishing.

He also does not compromise his position. At one point he was asked by some gay guy what he would do to appeal to gay Americans. Newt essentially said that those who care about the economy and national security should vote for him. Anybody who only cared about Gay Marriage should vote for Obama. This refusal to pander is what sold me.
I would like to see him say something similar to some member of the Congressional Black Caucus.

I think Newt and Santorum are both good men, but if South Carolina goes as expected tonight, then it will be crystal clear that the only way to stop Romney is Gingrich. That suits me fine.
Gingrich has all the makings of a fine President. Romney is neither likable nor is he respected. Gingrich has high negatives thanks to a merciless beating by the press, but those can change. Where Gingrich beats Romney hands down and where he beats the world is R E S P E C T. Gingrich commands respect and even inspires a little fear. This isn’t a bad quality for a President. It has been sorely lacking in the oval office since the 1980s.
Particularly early in his career, Reagan had the same quality, telling America’s adversaries, both foreign and domestic, that we didn’t much care whether we were loved. WE WOULD BE RESPECTED. Remember how fast Khomeini released the hostages after Reagan was sworn in. I think he knew that the Gipper meant business. So did the world. Which is probably the reason we had so few military engagements during the Reagan years. Ronald Reagan was worth a division or two. So is Newt Gingrich.
And as far as America’s domestic enemies (read:news media) no one skewers and cows them better than Gingrich. Like Palin, he refuses to let them frame the debate and when they attack, he punches them back so hard they see stars
