Best of luck to Rep. Giffords...I hope Ruth McClung makes a run for this Congressional seat.

Good grief. Its about time.
Just wondering how long the presidency would be left to the hands of a brain injured person before decicive action was taken?
Thinking about it, its may be some of the best democratic leadership the district has had in a while. Sometimes its hard to notice when folks stop screwing things up till they start up again or are replaced.
I know all you Freepers wouldn’t have minded if I would have coasted for the last year of my military career, just so I could get my pension. Thanks folks !

Giffords vowed to return public service. "I will return and we will work together for Arizona and this great country," she said. Best wishes in your recovery but, for this great country's sake, I hope you find a new line of work.

I’ll bet a large sum of money, not Romney large, that the Dems trot her out at the DNC convention to get some sympathy votes. Pathetic, but it will happen.

I live in AZ and was dreading the thought of Giffords running again..that said, her liberal husband is probably going to try to replace her, using the Tucson shooting. Hope I’m wrong.

Remember: She VOTED Aug. 1, 2011 on the debt ceiling increase... let there be no question of having to wait until now to resign based on competency... if she was competent to VOTE, she could have resigned any time since then... conversely, if she was not competent until now, her vote in August was FRAUD.

I know I'll catch flak for this, but she should never have been allowed to hold her seat in the first place. All she did was act as a place holder for another democrat vote.
It's the same thing that happened to, I think, a senator in the Dakotas somewhere after he suffered from some sort of injury/health issue. The senate kept him in office in order to keep another seat firmly in the democratic caucus.
I wish her nothing but the best, but it's time for the democrats to start playing by the rules.

My prayers are with her, what a tragedy.
She is doing the right thing in stepping down.

I don’t understand this. Brain injuries have never stopped Democrats from running for public office before.

It would have been a great story if she had recovered to an extent that she could have been an effective congressperson but her condition probably does not allow her to do what she otherwise would be able to do. Best of luck her and wish her as full a recovery as possible.

May she be blessed and get even better. She will never be the same though.
My husband had a bleed in his brain and it took a lot of physical therapy. He is doing very well, but like I said never the same as before.
