The aim of the liberal establishment in California is to drive the poor people out of the State with their high tax, anti-job agenda. The only poor people they want are those who tend their gardens and clean their mansions.

But the real reason progressive elites hate poor people is fear. What if the poor quit believing in the progressive elite, quit supporting the progressive elite, quit voting for the progressive elite? The elite would be out on its ear—impeached, recalled, defeated on the ballots, dismissed from the universities, fired at newspapers and television networks, booted out of nonprofit foundations, and chased away from church pulpits.

Your average white liberal absolutely hates the poor.

They wont live by them, and they don’t want to associate with them unless they can use them for political purposes.

Some exaggeration, but more on the mark than not.

I disagree, they love poor people, that’s why they want more of them.

“Smoking kills smokers, which...drives up the cost of a single-payer national health care system”

Not true. The reason Medicare and Social Security are so broke now is because people ARE NOT smoking, as smokers tend to die young (i.e., before SS) and quickly - relative to people that live into their 80s and 90s.

Why am I a slave? Why are some people slaves, and others masters? Was there ever a time when this was not so? How did the relation commence?

Once, however, engaged in the inquiry, I was not very long in finding out the true solution of the matter. It was not color, but crime, not God, but man, that afforded the true explanation of the existence of slavery; nor was I long in finding out another important truth, viz: what man can make, man can unmake. .. .

I distinctly remember being, even then, most strongly impressed with the idea of being a free man some day. This cheering assurance was an inborn dream of my human nature-a constant menace to slavery-and one which all the powers of slavery were unable to silence or extinguish.

The elite hate the poor

Libtard programs, in the long run, end up hurting the people they are trying to help.Pro-labor and pro-union legislation which raise average wage rates too high, cause increase in unemployment for the least productive and least skilled. Raising taxes on the rich is an assault on saving resulting in decrease in the demand for labor which increases unemployment and slows down increase in average money wage rates.

I don't think it is so much hatred of the poor as contempt - that is, after all, one of the signal characteristics of any elitist. Contempt to the point where the poor are considered laboratory rats for social experimentation, secure in the self-assurance that so long as the intentions are noble the results, however appalling, are excusable, or somebody else's fault. How else to explain the persistence of social programs that have produced such destruction toward the black family?

No, the elite reserve the emotion of hatred for the middle class, the petit bourgeoisie who have the audacity to demand lives of their own and to resist the dictates of their betters. This hatred percolates visibly through the elite of the academy, the elite of entertainment, the elite of popular communications, the elite of the political structure. It is not the poor who threaten the status of the elite, it is the middle class who threaten, and who actually have the ability, to displace them.

Marx was very clear about where the threat to a proletarian revolution led by an elite vanguard lay - it was in the middle class, and the history of utopian Marxism is the history of warfare on the middle class. Pol Pot addressed the issue with axes and garden hoes in the killing fields. Mao had done the same a decade earlier. Che Guevara hated no one as he did the very middle class from which he originated. Engels, the same.

This is a hatred that cannot be placated, reasoned with, or bought off. These are real enemies and their intention is real violence.

The Liberals use the poor for fodder to gain the system. There is no shortage of ideas or causes they use to ‘raise’ money which of course requires 90% overhead.
They create a problem that they ‘solve’.

This article was amazingly realistic —both the grit of the poor, and the flash of the wealthy.

This article is fist-in-your-face brilliant.

Okay, I’m against the Nanny State telling people what they can or cannot do.

But if people are so poor as to need the taxpayers to provide housing for them, where do they get the money to pay for expensive cigarettes (or alcohol)?

And, since they’re living on someone else’s property, who pays the piper calls the tune.

One factual error in the article. Michael Moore grew up in a very comfortable middle upper middle class home. He has honed his working class persona well but he is not and never was working class.

There are a few tenants that must be born in mind when contemplating liberals:

1. Never judge a liberal program on its merits or results. One may only judge the good intentions of the program regardless of the pain, misery, suffering and destruction caused.
2. Whenever a liberal acknowledges the inadequacy of any given liberal program his/her solution is not to abandon the program but to add more legislation (and cost). A smart fellow once said “The closest thing to immortality you are likely to see in this life is a government program.” Truer words were never spoken.
3. Any objections raised to any liberal program are always met with charges of hatred, racism, bigotry, homophobia or a general lack of compassion.
4. Using hard data to discuss the merits of any liberal program or liberal held position on any given subject are to be automatically discounted as all liberals engage in discussion with their feelings.
5. The vast majority of liberals loath being in the presence of the poor or disadvantaged unless their presence can be portrayed to other liberals as being compassionate or sacrificial. Most liberals only wish to view the poor through the tinted windows of their BMWs…at 60 mph.

It has been my experience that if I can keep all of the above in mind while talking to liberals, I seem to walk away with more hair than I otherwise normally would (i.e. I haven’t pulled it all out by the roots in frustration.).

In short, I agree. Liberals detest the poor and only keep them around to vote the liberal democrat ticket.

Before the War of Insurrection, democrats campaigned to the poor minority (the Irish) saying they were “for the little guy”. If the republicans got their way and freed the slaves, the newly freed blacks would take the Irish jobs because they would work for lower wages while opposing black freedom and rights at every turn... Then they shifted their focus onto the blacks campaigning “for the little guy” protecting them from the evil rich. Now they are turning their attention to the Latino vote espousing the same rhetoric.

It is no wonder “liberals” resist the teaching of accurate history in public schools. They have been an impediment to the prosperity of every disadvantaged group throughout American history.
