Newt supported mandates with penalties for 20 years re healthcare so yeah I’d say he was as bad as Obama on thaqt for a longer time.

In Newt’s defense, a mandate wasn’t his opinion alone. It was a Heritage Foundation proposal. If anything, he was supporting what he understood conservatives wanted. Since that time, conservative opinion has shifted.
