Newt didn't hit any grand slams tonight but he got several hits...

It's part of his makeup. I think NBC figured that out and worked out a way to deny Newt the audience response. Perhaps Romney's campaign had a hand in it. If Newt prevails, watch for Obama's campaign to stipulate no audience applause in the debate rules "to keep decorum".
