“I will guarantee everyone that the NBC hit squad will try to resurrect the Marianne allegations in some way, to try and trip Newt up. “

I don’t see that. They saw how that only helped him last time around... why would they want a repeat of THAT? I suspect they’ll ask him as few questions as they can get away with, and they’ll all be very, very boring questions (no red meat) so he can’t hit it out of the park again. And then they’ll ask everyone else something like “Say something nice about Mitt Romney.”

Resurrecting the false charges aired by ABC through Marianne does not have to come via a direct question to Newt. The bastards at NBC will disguise the assault via question or questions on morality offered as softballs to Rick Santorum. The plan will be to raise the specter of infidelity as a disqualifier, by getting clueless Rick Snatorum to address the issue in context of his exemplary marriage. Then the questioner will shift immediately to Romney who will cite his decades married to the same woman, then Ron Paul with the same set up. How can Newt then refute the planned assassination to his character if it posed that way and he is not asked a specific question.

Frank Luntz worked on a similar approach in a 'townhall' round table with the candidates before the Iowa caucuses. The approach needs only minor tweaking to eliminate Newt's ability to address the issue on his terms. Watch for it tonight. The demons of media are very adept at manipulating viewers and the weak-minded opponents of Newt. The scene can be set up in such a way that one doesn't immediately realize they have been herded into pondering the 'relevance of the issue', and that is how the scum and villainy work in media, with deacdes of experience through advertising results.
