Major Jeff Dinsmore is scheduled to testify tomorrow in matters of mitigation and extenuation before sentencing. Hearing should last until noon or beyond.

Utterly disgusting, but they needed their pound of flesh. I hope the judge is lenient.

Trials are called trials for good reason. It is difficult to understand the pressure if one had never been a defendant. It is unfortunate, but perhaps for the best. That said, I -hate- it when an innocent pleads out.

Solzhenitsyn and other writers about life in the Soviet Gulag noted that if you'd actually done something the penalty was ten years. You had to have done nothing at all to get twenty five years!
Looks like that's where Obama has taken us.

If this natiom was sane, this sack of excrement would be tried for treason, convicted, put up against a wall, and shot.
Instead he has a cushy position at UC Berkley. No surprise there...

As usual, a good NCO takes the blame for the epic SNAFU of Bureaucrats and Generals setting suicidal rules of engagement. Reminds me of the scumbag JAG officer that wouldn’t allow issue XM118LR ammo to be used because it was “hollow point”. (it isn’t, it’s an open tip match grade round that’s perfectly legal and currently being issued.) The sniper that protested this judgement got an article-15 even though he was correct. SHE, ahem... probably got promoted.

You and me and a lot of other people, too, Jemian. I pray the judge shows wisdom tomorrow.

Thanks, stylin. And it’s one I never wanted to send.
Pray Frank and the family can shake off this hideous nightmare and put something like their old lives together again.

There are many mitigating and extenuating matters in this case.
SSgt Wuterich stood tall and took all responsibility and has been an exemplary Marine working at Camp Pendleton for over five years, the entire time this has been hanging over him and his family.
No further punishment in warranted in my view, he should be allowed to get on with his life with his three girls and family.

An NPR station has a piece that includes an interview with McGirk
HERE. I can't bear to listen yet.

If there really was any justice left in the world the judge would overturn the plea deal and throw the case out with prejudice.
