Wuterich's statement must be seen in light of its being part of a deal.

SSgt Wuterich is saying what is required for the plea. He tried to protect his men once he was told to clear "south". His men came home. It is very unfortunate when even one innocent is killed. But, just because an innocent is killed does not mean a Marine is guilty. IMO, this is the price of war. It was high that day.
SSgt Wuterich has lived with this uncertainty for six years, had his name impugned, been slandered by Congressmen.....
He's withstood more than most of us would be willing to do. He's admitting that he's done with this fight and is moving on....nothing more. (IMO, that is).
