The state budget contains hundreds of specific provisions but none is bigger, more complicated, more politicized, more emotional – or more important – than the 30 or so billion dollars that it spends on K-12 education.
That was true even before Gov. Jerry Brown proposed to increase state school aid and raised its political and societal stakes even higher, although he claims it would be less complicated.
Brown's proposed 2012-13 budget would increase K-12 spending by $4.4 billion – but only if voters pass temporary increases in sales and income taxes next fall. School officials worry, however, that the supposed increase would be more a bookkeeping exercise than new cash-in-hand. And if the taxes fail, the schools would lose the money.
Is Brown using schools as a pawn in the chess game over taxes, knowing that they are the most popular piece of the budget? Does the sun rise in the East?

CA is a lost cause. It kills me to say it, because I was born there, but it isn’t even a nice place to visit anymore.

California schools are indoctrination centers into moral relativism....they are to teach racism, class hatred, especially hatred of white men.
The curricula is designed to mass brainwash into Marxist ideology-—into Atheism, hedonism and homosexuality. Values Clarification inserted in the 70’s uses BF Skinner techniques to destroy “Fixed Beliefs” (belief in Christian God) and to normalize abnormal sex—so children accept no “Right and Wrong”. (Feel good, Do it! philosophy of Marcuse and the smash monogamy crowd). Marx loathed the family unit so Sex Ed is designed to destroy sexual morality in young children-—the surest way to destroy all long term relationships and emotional and physical security of children—so state owns them.
If they make homosexuality “normal” and a “right” then they destroy the Christian paradigm which made America. We will not longer have Just Law-—but unequal law like the Nuremberg Laws. With no Objective Truth—any man made-up laws can be “law”-—like what Hitler and Stalin’s countries did-—they enacted Rule of Man. We operate under Rule of Law-—which means there is Objective Truth—Right and Wrong—and it is never decided on what “urges” are popular.
Get your kids and grandkids OUT of these evil schools.

If they removed homo and sex education from schools and stopped handing out condoms and birth control from the nurses office for free to all comers and concentrated on the core fundamentals of education they would reduce their costs. California would be better for it. There would be less confusion in life and more learning for these kids. They might even learn enough arithmetic to solve California’s budget problems altogether.
Since the state of CA has mandated that public grade schools teach the history of the social contributions that gay & lesbian individuals have made, the public school system not only needs to lose funding, it needs to be abolished.
