...Glenn is too much of a national treasure for our nation to miss his crucial teachings.

I totally agree with you on that. He has said that he isn't mad at the Tea Party, but at himself for failing to "do his job" to expose progressivism (Big Government) on both sides.

Glenn is unbelievably courageous, somewhat eccentric and perhaps even a little paranoid concerning Gingrich. That said, let's take Glenn's advice and examine Newt closely. In the end, "we will all suffer or rejoice together" - from today's show.

Great job!

Kudos to Laus Deo. . .

(No question - and too bad - that Beck has fallen off the tracks re Newt.)

That is an excellent letter. I commend the writer. Hopefully Beck will take heed. I’ve now completely switched to Boortz in the AM as I cannot listen to Glenn’s bitter snarkiness anymore. It’s a huge turnoff.

For both Beck and Coulter
I can see them wanting Romney because in their mind Newt can’t be elected and with Romney they think he can be controlled by a GOP congress

BUT

For them to go off half cocked resorting to using the bogus ethical charges that they know are untrue and acting like raving loons is unbelievable

I thought both had more integrity and were rational

Beck also has a Yankee view of US history. He thinks about those bad bad ole Southerners and how enlightened the New England fellas were and are.

When one dismisses absolutely everything about the Southern claims on state’s rights in American history it is tough to square with the TEA Party’s claim that we have too much fed.

Quite frankly, I’ve never been able to stand Beck. It’s a style thing. I salute the excellent work he’s done in popularizing Jonah Goldberg’s historical analysis of the American left and in organizing Tea Party rallies, but I still can’t stand him. I have a colleague — one of about four other identifiable conservatives in my department; this one is a convert to conservatism who’d been part of the Chicago hard left of the ‘60’s and ‘70’s — who liked Beck when he was on Fox, though he tended to fact-check him, including reading Woodrow Wilson’s actual writings extensively and finding out he was worse even than Beck portrayed him.

In this instance I’m sure it’s a Mormon thing. Beck may go back to being a net asset for the right, but now it’s beyond style and his judgement is clouded. Maybe it will clear in the future.

When you learn about mormonISM, get back to me.
That ‘confection” has everything to do with Beck’s support of Romney (regardless of what he is saying).
Beck will endorse Romney formally and it will be BECAUSE they are both mormon.

Glenn Beck was unbelievably obnoxious and outright rude to an older woman caller yesterday.

Beck and his side-kicks behave like a group of juveniles who have gotten into their parent's liquor cabinet.

I enjoyed his informative program while it was on Fox, however, I can't say the same for his radio program which is no longer welcome in my home and consequently will not subscribe to GBTV.

Glenn Beck is a caricature. Didn’t know some people took him seriously.

“Glenn Beck was unbelievably obnoxious and outright rude to an older woman caller yesterday.

Glenn Beck has time and again refused to engage in any polite sustained debate with any one who has a view differing from himself. I really found the mocking of the older woman yesterday to not only be ugly, it was just bad radio. I expected better from Glenn Beck and from Pat Gray.”

The description of that phone call, given by a fellow Freeper, should shame Beck. He has become a disgrace.

I have his radio show on now, just to see what mess will come out of his mouth next. He and his cohorts are doing Star Wars voices. Ann Coulter will be on at the top of the next hour. THAT should be entertaining. They can screech about Newt and their love of Romney together.

—You’re a big boy. Stand up for yourself. Pick your own battles. Don’t piggy back on mine. I didn’t mention Beck’s religion nor did I mention Mitt Romney,—

I’m not sure what you mean’t by “piggybacking”. You are correct you didn’t mention Becks Religion. That is why I did. Nor did you mention Mitt Romney. That is why I did.

I’ve argued many, many times with liberals and find that when they feel strongly about their postion but cannot logically back it up, they go emotional in their responses, as Beck is doing. And I think that is why Beck is doing what he is. A reasonable conservative would not support Romney. But if this conservative is a Mormon, he is very conflicted. He will support Mitt, but can not really logically articulate why. It leaves them in two positions. They can just not talk about the election at all, or they can go emotional, since that is all they have.

Beck is choosing the latter path, based on what I am hearing here.

I loved Becks books and tried to listen to his radio show a year ago (I have not had TV since the last century), but I could not listen to his show because it was so much teenage blather between him and his cohost.

BTW, I’m not all that big, but I’m fairly tall. :)

I cancelled my GBTV subscription last week. It had become painfully obvious that Beck is just making it up as he goes along in an attempt to find out what sells.

IMO, Beck will self-destruct, and I don’t want a ring-side seat to watch that.

Beck’s greatest contribution will be to demonstrate that it’s possible to create a viable TV network distributed via Roku and computers. But to be viable long term, the programming must be interesting. Beck just isn’t interesting these days.

While Beck was absent due to his back problem in early January, I found that I preferred the nightly show his NY staff produced. Two hours of Beck every night is beyond tedious. Most of the show it seems consists of Beck describing what he’s going to do. At this point, he should just be doing it.

With regard to Beck’s back problem, my back flares up from time-to-time so I know what that’s about. There was something phoney about Beck’s professed back problem. I got the feeling that he was faking a back problem to give himself more time to do his homework.

“I hear you, but Glenn is too much of a national treasure for our nation to miss his crucial teachings.”

Beck has done some worthwhile things, but, sorry, national treasure? I think that’s how he views himself, maybe. A couple of weeks ago he referred to his audience as his “followers”———a very telling slip, IMO.

—That’s your take on Glenn Beck and Mitt Romney. I am incapable of caring less about their professed religious affiliations. —

Problem is, Pyx, that for a mormon they go hand in hand. I know a lot of mormons. Every single one of them is in the tank for Romney, even though they can’t really articulate why.

—My own criticisms focus instead on Glenn Beck’s behavioural flaws towards his audience ...—

I think it is BECAUSE of his support of Mitt based on religion rather than political qualifications. It leaves Beck kinda stuck. He can’t say “Mitt is great because he is a good, obedient tithing Mormon”, and there is nothing else for him to articulate that is convincing. He’s left with emotionalism, or avoiding the subject altogether. And the latter is not an option.

IOW, his religion is a foundational reason WHY he is exhibiting those “behavioral flaws”.

At least, that is my prognosis. ;)

Was thinking that Beck would appreciate your 'Laus Deo' - thinking it a 'pen' name per praise; realize upon revisit that it is not the case/lol. . .but Beck should appreciate; nonetheless; if he reads this, in any event.

Certainly resonates with many of us, here. . .

Ann Coulter up now-—they’re hugging it up. The spittle should be flying any moment.

Indeed, Glenn has become a high school hallway version of Bill O'Reilly.

I've said it before, I personally believe that Bill O'Reilly is the one that tainted Beck (I know, it takes two). When Beck started palling around with O'Reilly at Fox News and on his tour stops, the change became quite obvious.

I have always felt the Beck posed a real challenge to taking O'Reilly's prime Fox News slot, and O'Reilly (the fake friend mentor) helped usher him into obsolescence.
