Ah, the Hollow Man...
I listen to these things so you don't have to, and I've got a pretty strong stomach - but last night's festivities were truly something else.
A transcript is available here for those of you into self-mortification, but I'll go over the basics.
First off, the speech was obviously very well rehearsed down to the last vocal inflection and raised eyebrow..in fact. I wouldn't be a bit surprised if there were theatrical directions emanating from TOTUS tonight. Simply amazing..yet as he spoke, the contradictions between what was coming out of his mouth and what we've seen coming out of this White House are so radically different they underlined one of the qualities I dislike most about this president -the way he arrogantly thinks everyone's stupid except him, and thinks that the usual rule that nothing ever goes away on the internet doesn't apply where he's concerned.
The president started off and ended by invoking what he referred to as 'this generation of heroes' returning from victory in Iraq, and indeed he used the military frequently as an example of how he wants the Republicans in Congress to behave . It was disgusting to hear, considering how Senator Obama and many of his fellow Democrats cheering him on tonight did everything they could to sabotage our troops in the field and their mission during wartime. Yet he had the unmitigated gall to use military teamwork as an example of what he wants to see in Washington!

The yellow man. Yellow skin and purple lips...
Hollow yes. That hollow, big-eared, waxy mannequin was the only thing holding that empty suit up.
Taqqiya talk.
I cannot and will not watch any of his speeches, but my husband turned it on for a moment and said, “he’s got more makeup on than Paula Dean.”
T.S. Eliot bump.
This is the way the world ends
Not with a bang but a whimper.
When the president emphasized the theme of fairness and shared responsibility, he presented traditional enchanting words offered to describe the socialist dream. As usual for socialists, Obama failed to mention achievement requires the intrusive application of a ubiquitous bureaucracy under his mantle of authority.
However, the American Dream does not mean government will manage personal lives to ensure protection of home values, college funds, retirement accounts, savings, affordable healthcare, homeownership, and lifetime employment or unemployment compensation. Our Declaration of Independence does not contemplate a political class surreptitiously currying favor by benefiting the wealth and executive pay found within cartels as exampled by Archer Daniels Midland, General Motors, and Goldman Sachs.
Instead the American Dream has always meant the individual, and not the collective, pursuit of happiness for spiritual prosperity within the hazards and uncertainties of personal freedoms. But as a consequence of fostering individual initiative, this country has achieved an unsurpassed material prosperity. According to the World Bank our poverty level reported by HHS at $10,890, exceeds the per capita GDP of people living in 70% of the countries of the world.
Americans should not exchange personal freedom for mediocre materialism dependent on adherence to government rules.

Since the verbal content is useless I often resort to looking at body language and facial expressions.
Has he developed some weird practice of sending his eyes up to look at the ceiling or is it my imagination?
Did they install a teleprompter on the ceiling?
Hollow boy...
Hollow man-child.
