What Politico is exposing is just who is in the tank for the political status quo. I listened to the video and what Newt said was correct. Bush could not run as a continuation of Reagan because Americans have about 8 year attentions span. Bush's advisers had him put his spin on Reagan and he developed the “1000 points of lights”, kinder, gentler....” Now it all may have been crap, but a sitting VP running for President better make his own mark. Look at Gore, people were tired of the moral character of the president and took it out on Gore. If not for the last minute DUI discovery on Bush, which deadened the higher moral character of Bush, GWB would have easily won in 2000.
