RALEIGH, N.C. Gov. Beverly Perdue, facing a hard fight for a second term, said Thursday that she will not seek re-election, choosing to focus her energy on fighting for a sales tax increase to fund education.
The first woman elected governor in North Carolina, Perdue faced a potential rematch against former Charlotte Mayor Pat McCrory, a Republican whom she narrowly defeated in 2008 in the state's closest gubernatorial contest since 1972. Perdue's win was partly attributed to Barack Obama's surprise win in North Carolina.
"The thing I care about most right now is making sure that our schools and schoolchildren do not continue to be the victims of shortsighted legislative actions and severe budget cuts inflicted by a legislative majority with the wrong priorities," she said in a statement.

Must have been a misprint.
Should be:
“...She was fighting for a sales tax increase to help education UNIONS ....”
Another one bites the dust
Another one bites the dust
And another one gone and another one gone
Another one bites the dust, eh
Hey, I’m gonna get you too
Another one bites the dust
She’s Perdone...................

Idi-ette.
The only time the lady (Ms. Purdue) with a joker (think Batman villain) smile ever gets really excited about anything is when she is speaking at a pro abortion rally.
She wanted to suspend elections for two years so congress could get things done. My guess is she is just going underground!
Now, the Republicans are going to need to work for it.
Good riddance, though. I'm not heartbroken. She never should have been elected in the first place.
Excellent news!
