I thought we weren’t supposed to think very highly of them because they’re all products of liberal colleges?
First off get rid of all the education departments in our universities. They should major in the subject they are going to teach. Cut out the indoctrination that comes with the degree in education.
I have no idea.
No kidding. My kids are older so it's not an issue regarding my work, but with younger children and both parents working, these "teacher planning days" are difficult.
This country is chock-full of people who are really, really great at their jobs, and who don’t earn $150K.
So many problems in our schools today, tough job. Parents need to be held accountable too.
Private school teachers are paid less (almost frightfully so) and get better results.
These "bonuses" would be tied to bogus, easily manipulated and highly political criteria.
Let’s pay the really smart kids to teach themselves.
I guess that would be the logical next step for the food stamp president.
I would pay great teachers $150k if you allow me to fire the bad ones
Alternative:
Develop objective measures of teacher “greatness.”
Develop a payscale that compensates proportional to “greatness.” Adjust this scale until there are no longer lines of qualified candidates to fill vacancies.
or
Set a stand of “qualified”. Pay a flat amount to qualified teachers, regardless of experience. It’s OK if it’s a young person’s occupation (NOT “profession”) if they are qualified. Let the old biddies move on if they have such valuable skills.
and/or
Set administrator salaries to be no more than teacher salaries.
Arne is saying either:
1. The trouble with education is that teachers aren’t living luxuriously enough (absurd).
2. The trouble with education is that there are teacher job openings that can;’t be filled (absurd).
or
3. The current teachers are lousy, and the ones who would be competent won’t be attracted to the occupation unless salaries were higher (a little insulting to the group he thinks he’s pandering to).
a silly education degree?....its almost obscene....working half the year?.....insanity....
All public school classrooms should be like courtrooms. On the public record, and accessible to parents and taxpayers.
Video every moment to observe teacher incompetence and political indoctrination, and behavior issues.
Shine light, and the roaches will scurry.
in the old days, a HS grad could get a certificate to "teach"....and that was when we actually had a upper mobile society with great academic gains......
Get the FEDS out of K-12 education you stinking idiot!!!!!
“I think teachers should be able to make a lot more money based on the difference theyre making in students lives...”
Ha! They should pay me for having had to sit through 12 years of Chicago public school education, for all the “difference” it made in my life.
>>So many problems in our schools today, tough job. Parents need to be held accountable too.
I agree, it’s hard for me to teach 60 REGULAR ED kids “The Scarlet Letter,” but I love my job. I’d do it for free if I had a permanent home and food supply, lol.
AND OH YEAH, THE SUMMER!
I forgot the “Sarc” tag...
