I agree, We needed it and it worked out pretty well, with the exception of the Controlling Authority by the Feds, but the way it was done is how we screw ourselves, by disregarding the Chains of the Constitution and using trickery and fraud to disobey the Constitution, in the end we will all lose, because this behavior perpetuates that behavior.

Our real problem with the highway system today is due to waste, fraud, stupidity, etc. After all we shouldn’t be funding city transportation projects, rain gardens and museums out of highway funds. As far as I’m concerned the highway funds should be strictly restricted to upkeep on interstates and related bridges and nothing else.

I’m even OK with letting some roads here in Michigan return to dirt if they have minimal traffic. I live on a dirt street that hasn’t seen a snow plow for years and I’m just fine.
