Abrams was pretty much a hawk. But I suspect that he,like alot of people, dislike Newt. He had(s?) a bad habit of making people feel small, maybe to protect his own thin skin.. You can only step on so many toes and get by.

I believe Rush supports Romney because all of his rich friends do - and while he makes the effort to stand against the establishment - sometimes - I don’t believe he is willing to risk his standing with his rich friends.

When rush hinted here and there in the months before 2 if by tea, that he was pulling together something big that he didn’t want to talk about - I and many others thought it was going to be a new conservative media outlet - maybe based on Beck’s - with his conservative allies to stand against barack in the election.

Of course, it didn’t turn out that way. Rush won’t even say who he’s voting for in Florida... That is not the kind of patriot that started this country, or the kind of patriot we need now.

Part of being a conservative is seeing and acknowledging the fact, both pleasant and unpleasant. Newt is justly criticized for his attacks against Mitt over the Bain Capital stuff. Just because you like Newt and loathe Mitt, doesn't suddenly alter what is just or unjust, what is right or wrong.

I have repeatedly blasted Newt for those ill-considered attacks he has made against Mitt--he has done it again on this immigration business, so stupidly that he was forced to retract his ads over it.

It is wrong, it is stupid and Newt deserves to be taken to task over those attacks and Mitt deserves to be defended against them.

Likewise, I have attacked Mitt for doing the same--far more often and viciously than Newt did him--against Newt. Mitt has proven himself to be a serial liar and distorter and perfectly happy and self-justifying in his behavior. He did it against Huckabee, he did it against McCain, and he is now doing it to anyone who stands in the way of him being elected now--first Rick Perry in Iowa, now Newt in South Carolina and Florida.

But, back to the point. Rush sees his job as being a defender of the basic tenets of conservatism--of the truth, of capitalism, of the spirit and legacy of Ronald Reagan and of our Founding Fathers. That means he will call Newt down for bad behavior, just as he will call Mitt down.

Blaming him or attacking him for doing what he has always done isn't accomplishing anything. This circular firing squad is going to reelect the Narcissist in Chief and everybody in the Republican Party and among those "establishment conservatives" needs to STOP IT!

Now, Mitt (and the runt from Texas) started this, so they bear the lion's share of the blame, but they have all stooped to low tactics at some time.

Rush ain't always right, but in this case, he has been playing referee and, I believe, justly so.

Newt and Mitt need to muzzle their defenders or at least loudly, openly and repeatedly make it known that they do not like the fact that their surrogates are involved in lying and distortion.

Rush and Drudge were the most evil attackers on ‘Bloody Thursday’, Rush supported Romney in 2008, and is doing so now.

The Fix is in—Get on the Mitt bandwagon or be destroyed—if you have a protest vote—you can waste your energy on Ron Paul—that’s what he is for. Newt isn’t playing ball he is to drop out and support Mittens. All right thinking Republicans know this! Failure to support Mittens will make you a target—and if you have any credibility you will be CRUSHED! Its like going against Al Capone or something. Sarah loves her family and income too much so she will not come out and support Newt. Its like being in a Nazi Occupied Nation in 1940—Support the collaborators or be punished. These is another option — REBEL.
