Rasmussen in FL: Romney 44, Gingrich 28
HotAir ^ | 1/29/2012 | ED MORRISSEY

Five weeks ago, this might have been a game changer. Is this a case of too little, too late?

Atlanta businessman and former presidential candidate Herman Cain endorsed Newt Gingrich Saturday night at a West Palm Beach Country Republican gathering after two months of wavering on whether he would offer his support to a fellow candidate.

The endorsement comes just three days before the crucial Florida primary, by far the largest state to vote so far in the GOP sweepstakes, and could help Gingrich energize tea party support. Gingrich campaign has flagged since his upstart, double-digit victory over front-runner Mitt Romney in the South Carolina primary a week ago.

“I had it in my heart and mind a long time ago” to endorse Gingrich, Cain said in a surprise appearance at the dinner. “Speaker Gingrich is a patriot, Speaker Gingrich is not afraid of bold ideas, and I also know that Speaker Gingrich is … going through this sausage grinder. I know what this sausage grinder is all about. I know that he’s going through this sausage grinder because he cares about the future of the United States of America.”

“The bigger question is - if Romney should prevail, what exactly have we won? Obama lite?”

Should Romney prevail, while he could wind up being something akin to Obama Lite, his administration would be NOTHING like an Obama 2.0 which would be a full on assault against American values, further suppression of freedoms, and an unchecked march toward Marxism. I’ll take the lesser of the two evils for now if that means removing Obama and his thugs from office.

If the RNC is truly in the tank for Mitt but ended up 25 votes short to Newt by convention time...then look for the RNC to quietly reinstate those other 50 per cent of the delegates with held in the “penalized states!

Precisely.

Newt pointed out that 97% (he picked that number quickly LOL)
will be funded by the private industries.

Going back to the moon will cost just billions, tens
or even hundreds of billions at most (including mining
the sepcial element — Helium??), but the net effects
will trickle into trillions of dollars in the next
decade in revival of new technologies.

“I would rather vote for Santorum than Gingrich. Santorum has a lifetime ACU rating of 88.1 and Gingrich a 90,distinction without a difference over a lifetime.”

I make a distinction between genuine Santorum supporters and those who use the same lies and distortions as Mitt Romney.

Many of your attacks are in that category. “Gingrich disgrace/voted out by “conservatives”....”Gingrich not conservative” etc. (You know the record says otherwise)

I firmly believe that the majority of people who use this line of attack on FR will be the BIGGEST SUPPORTERS OF MITT ROMNEY...if Gingrich isn’t nominated.

Attacks at Gingrich from the right are being orchestrated nationally and in Primary states...by the Left...as in Mitten’s Kittens....

I suspect the same Kittens on FR. Hopefully Gingrich, who is the only conservative with a shot to stop the RINO will win. If not I’ll take pleasure at watch the MittBots come out of the closet.

No I will not support yet another non conservative. For the first time in a long life in a family going back pre Dewey I will not support the GOP if Mitt is it.

The fact that you are here to tear down Newt and act as though there is no difference between he and Newt is sad for a long time freeper.

Who do you support right now?

There are 4 running.

Newt

Mitt

Rick

Paul

You have 4 choices which one is it?

btw...since you are doing ratings check ACU lifetime on Santorum versus Newt...two can play this game.

Free Republic has to realize that the GOP is no longer the party of limited government. They are not that different from the Democrats. Now I know there are some great conservative Republicans, but I'm talking about the party in general.

So there really is no opposition party in Washington. This is why our Republic continues to drift to the left. The only thing that is keeping us safe, at the moment, is the U.S. Constitution. That's even being eroded.

The rise of Mitt Romney will also mean the Rise of the Tea Party. Mitt is viewed as Obama with an “R” by his name. So it will not matter to Washington who wins or not. The agenda of the elite will continue.

Rush Limbaugh said Conservatives should work in the party to change, but as you can see the elite in Washington will not permit it to go back to it conservative roots. Nothing will change until Conservatives recognize this.

Insanity is doing the same thing over and over again and expecting a different result.

Gallup chief: Romney support ‘collapsing’

That was 9 days ago.

The polls were quite accurate in capturing the rapid last minute swing towards Gingrich before South Carolina, thus there's no reason to think they're wrong now, particularly when they are numerous, consistent, and show the same trend.

How dare you state on this site that I have put my hopes in Romney. How dare you. I despise the man, but as of right now unless Newt Gingrich does something very spectacular, Romney is going to be the nominee. Why can I not hold out hope that Romney, might be FORCED because of the very words he is now using, to follow through on a promise. It’s not hope in the man; it’s hope that he will follow-through for once.

How dare you! If you still believe that I need to get something “Planted” in my head, leave me the hell alone. I’ll think for myself!

Fine. I like Santorum and I especially enjoyed his last two debate performances. I was merely responding to FL and the map and with Newt winning SC, it seemed to be in his favor even more so than Santorum’s. Like you and other conservatives, I want conservatism to win. :)

So I say yes, Newt, take us to the Moon again.

The problem is that this country is bankrupt. We have a national debt of over $15 trillion equal to our GDP. We borrow 42 cents of every federal dollar spent. We have an unfunded liability of over $60 trillion represented by our entitlement programs, which will continue to increase in costs as our population ages. And we are confronted with globalization where the emerging markets like China and India, are taking our middle class jobs as multinationals leave the US.

I graduated high school in 1961. We are in entirely different circumstances, fiscally and otherwise, than we were then. And we are no longer the same country demographically or electorally. Immigrants account for one in 8 U.S. residents, the highest level in more than 90 years. In 1970 it was one in 21; in 1980 it was one in 16; and in 1990 it was one in 13. In a decade, it will be one in 7, the highest it has been in our history. And by 2050, one in 5 residents of the U.S. will be foreign-born.

We can reach higher, but not until we get our feet planted firmly on the ground again. We are already seeing the battle being played out between guns versus butter as the Dems seek to slash military spending and shift the savings over to keep the welfare state running a little longer. This is a sign of a great nation in decline in much the same way the British Empire sputtered to an inglorious end.

What will FR do, IF and when the cardboard man wins the necessary delegates and becomes the chosen one? Will Jim ask freepers to stay home in November?

Maybe we should ask Jim that question directly.

I’ve posted a thousand times that I absolutely will not vote for or support the socialist abortionist Mitt Romney uner any circumstances whatsoever!!

RomneyCare = ObamaCare = CommieCare = taxpayer funded abortion = death panels = socialism = tyranny. Romney still brags about RomneyCare TODAY!! He would like all 50 states to implement similar socialist plans. These are the indisputable facts and that’s really all you need to know about Mitt Romney.

Mitt Romney has now bought off Florida Attorney General PAM BONDI, and her mission as Romney’s new National Healthcare CZAR is to head up a National Healthcare Task Force to impose socialist RomneyCare-like plans on all fifty states. They claim to be doing this as a tenth amendment “states rights” effort, but they fail to take into consideration that they must have the consent of the governed before imposing unwanted socialist systems on we the people. Doesn’t matter if it’s federal or state, it’s still SOCIALISM!! And a state forcing its government approved and controlled top-down socialist program on its citizens against their will, or else, especially with federal backing is FASCISM!! TYRANNY!! It is unwanted, unnecessary and UNCONSTITUTIONAL!! We the people are the SOVEREIGNS!! Together, we can put a stop to this!!

Ronald Reagan warned us that the socialists would try to impose socialism on America through socialist healthcare. Well, here it is. A so-called Republican now wants to impose a socialist healthcare system on us, only he calls it a “conservative free-market program.” Well, if it’s conservative free-market, why does it use federal and state tax dollars and why does the state have to FORCE it down our throats?

A vote for Romney is a vote for the Socialist States of America!! Don’t let it happen!!

The tea party rose up to resist this tyranny!! The tea party says: Force SOCIALIST healthcare down our throats, we shove it up your DONKEYS next election!!

Now is the time. Just do it!!

The situation certainly looks dire. As always, I find that you have hit on a good many relevant points. Your inference is probably right, it’s over and we lost.

However, regardless if the known facts and the logical conclusions that one can make from those facts, I will continue to hope and pray for a change in the tide.

Newt has said that he will continue on, regardless of how Florida turns out. I will stand with him as long as he still has fight in him.

I probably shouldn’t use “death bed” stories on this subject, LOL, so I will spare you the details. BUT, I have been on my death bed twice in my 63 years on this planet. On both occasions the prognosis was dire. Logic and the facts said that I should simply accept it, but somehow I refused to die.

If Newt has the strength to hang in there, I will fight on.

One of my favorites:

“Do not go gentle into that good night. Rage, rage against the dying of the light.” Dylan Thomas
