Santorum up in Colorado, Nevada with anti-Gingrich commercial
The Hill ^ | 1-31-12 | Sink

Posted on 01/31/2012 3:37:09 PM PST by VinL

Fresh on the heels of announcing January fundraising numbers in excess of $4 million, Rick Santorum's presidential campaign announced a new television ad that will begin airing Tuesday in Colorado and Nevada.

The ad attacks Newt Gingrich as being too liberal for the GOP nomination by arguing that he shares many policy positions with President Obama and House Minority Leader Nancy Pelosi (D-Calif.).

"All three supported radical cap and trade legislation that would destroy American jobs and drive up energy costs. All three supported giving illegal aliens some form of amnesty. All three sported the government health mandates which take away our freedom and is the core of ObamaCare. And all three of these politician's supported the Wall Street bailouts that was a slap in the face to the Tea Party," the narrator says.

It goes on to refer to the trio as "cap and trade loving, bailout supporting, soft on immigration, big-government mandating politicians."

The commercial is a sharp indictment of Gingrich, with whom Santorum has split more conservative voters in early primary contests. But the ad does little to attack Mitt Romney, the presumptive Republican front-runner who is expected to lead in Nevada polling.

"Rick Santorum for President: he doesn't just talk a good conservative game, he lives it," the narrator says.

Nevada will caucus Feb. 4, with Colorado voters gathering 3 days later at caucus sites across that state.

Why doesn’t he attack Mitt?

Because of one and only one reason -- to be Mitt's VP choice.

Rick is a low as Mitt. Rick knows he has ZERO chance of getting the nomination. He knows his only chance is Mitt's VP.

Rick is a total fraud. Anyone who has an honest bone in their body knows that Mitt would be a total disaster as President. He would just be a placeholder until the next Marxist takes power.

Rick clear knows that is the truth. Yet, this fraud still with a clear conscience will try and take out Newt, thereby dooming our Republic.

Rick is showing his true character -- he is as much of a power-lusting pig as Mitt.

Nothing like putting personal ambition before your country. He should take a lesson from Governor Perry!

The Catholic Church teaches that ALL ABORTION is wrong and you CAN NOT SUPPORT pro-abortion candidates.

I always wonder why so many Catholic's are Democrats.....

I have some family that are Catholic...and hard left liberals.

How can that be?

At the time, I sent Santorum an email about being disappointed that he didn’t endorse Toomey.

BUT when I found out it was because he thought that Specter would have a better chance of winning than Toomey, and he wanted the Republicans to have the majority so they would have control of the Judicial Committee, I understood Santorum’s logic.

Controlling the Judicial Committee is HUGE, because activist judges can destroy our Constitution and have already harmed it tremendously.

When the Dems have control of the Judicial Committee, they wouldn’t allow many of Bush’s conservative judicial picks to go to the floor for an up, or down, vote. And libDems especially do this if it is a conservative minority, like Estrada.

Pat Toomney later endorsed Santorum, because he knows Santorum is a good man.

Well, we’ll see how Newt responds. He might just find a way to smack him right back down.

Santorum the Spoiler ... what a disappointment this man is.

Romney-Huckabee 2012 - It just makes sense when you look at in a diabolical way. How else could such a loud mouth be so quiet for so long. Santorum is just an underling for them. He’ll never get on the ticket because he brings nothing to the ticket.

You are exactly right. Santorum talks the talk, but he has sold out his principles to back Romney for a VP slot. I can smell that rotten stench. He should be ashamed to spout all his “faith” rhetoric and then sell his soul for someone who supports abortion and denies the deity of Jesus Christ.

We will continue to support Newt with our prayers and our giving. He is the only one in this race who can defeat Obama. Lets Roll!

They're Democrats before they're Catholic. They're cultural Catholics. Most Catholics since the early '70s have been poorly catechized.

Should be pretty clear that Santorum is Mitt's spoiler. Wonder what he was promised? For sure RS doesn't give a darn about the social policies he champions.

There is only one way to stop this coup against the voters and that is to make sure Newt and Paul go all the way to the convention. Should Mitt still go forward, I am all for ‘he is on his own’ and concentrate on house and senate. If Mitt loses in general, GOP will be gone. Save the we have to get Obama out stuff. Mitt won't be any different and what we need to do is send a clear message to GOP we are in charge. If we don't send that message, doesn't matter who gets elected to house, senate or president. If what the GOP is doing is not clear to everyone, there is no hope, only the delusion that Rep are better than Dems.

I'm beginning to really, really not like this guy!

If he was so good, why didn't he stay and fight in FL? Oh that's right......it's because he stands no chance there!

It hit me today what Santorum's game is, you see I was listening to Bill Bennett who Rick sits in for.

Bill mentioned a lunch bunch he meets with which included Charles Kruthammer.

What hit me was the following, as the Late Mark Scott Michigan Libertarian Talk Show host used to say Cui bono? Who Benefits?

Ah let us count who does...

* Santorum himself. As a Huckabee type spoiler which will give him greater gravitas and a bigger contract fee.
* His place after the election is assured as well as the cash flow as a TV or Radio talking head.
* As talking head, he will continue the us vs them game that all the talking heads do.

Now who else benefits...

* The ruling class and the Punditry Class, ergo the Bennett lunch bunch, they are at the trough and do not want the change, that Newt will bring, he and his change is too, "uncomfortable"...
* They must destroy Cain, Palin, and Newt to keep the game of musical chairs going.
* They must destroy us, Freepers, Tea Partiers once and for all and never reliquish the GOP to the likes of a Reagan again.

I am convinced even "our" talkers feel we are the great unwashed and are an embarrassment, they like when we give them victories for power, but other than that, they probably disdain or outright hate us. Let's face it I will not carry their water, No more donating or volunteering and maybe even voing against their incumbent weasels.

With that said, I fear a door is closing i.e us influencing the GOP/RNC.

If so it is over, we have no home. It is time for us to move on and find another party, better yet build our own.

I fear they will destroy Newt.

I read here more and more and I was one of the 1st to say so and took a lot of $H!+ for it, i.e. I cannot pull the lever for Romney, I will write in Palin, Goldwater, Reagan, somebody, I revile the man that much.

If it is Romney Obama wins, we adapt, innovate and overcome. Chances are "it" all falls apart, we find one another and rebuild from their. Maybe that is the destiny, and all we are doing has been futile in trying to try to stop it...

Damn Shame, Rick will have had a hand in it, and not a good one....

My guess is he figures Gingrich isn’t getting enough heat from Romney.

I have said before that Santorum is a shill for Romney

Rick doesn’t attack on personal issues, like Romney does, but be prepared - he WILL attack on ISSUES.

So why isn't Rick attacking Mitt Romney on his dismal liberal governing record in Massachusetts?

Sorry for spoiling your logic, there.

The Establishment, if you want my opin, must be payi9ng for the anti-[Gingrich ads. LDS Bishop Romney is definitely their Republican candidate.

Santorum is going after the person he perceives to truly be in the lead. I don’t see anything wrong with that. Just how the game is played.

I don’t care for either Mitt OR Gingrich so I’ll be “settling” if either of them gets the nomination.

madison, if that’s the case, then Rick has a serious perception problem.
