I don’t like Marco Rubio—never have. He just seems squishy to me, like someone who’s a bit too on the suggestible side for my comfort.

Too bad he’s not a natural born citizen. Or do we not care about that if it’s someone on our side of the aisle?

PIPA & SOPA. This neocon is the Senator from Disney. If you want McCain without the war record, support this party hack.

I don’t think conservatives want to treat Hispanics like Dems have treated blacks. Do we?

Let’s all be Americans.

Didn’t McCain try this with Palin and we know how that worked out!

Little early to draft a VP, especially when there is no clear-cut nominee.

Why, he’s a big Romney lover. That disqualifies him. Glad we found out just in time what he’s made of.

I’ve held the suspicion that Romney has had Rubio on his short list for some time now. He’s young, charismatic, and would help win in the key state of Florida. I would also point out, rather cynically, that Mitt is probably thinking he can woo conservatives over with Rubio, throwing out the old line “it’s a balanced ticket.”

No idea if Gingrich has the same thoughts about Rubio in the 2 slot.

Wasn't he just claiming that the Massachusetts flip-flopping liberal is “conservative”?

Allen West

If it’s gonna be Romney, at least have one set of testicles on the ticket.

Had great hopes for him when he first emerged in the national radar, but not much of fan now. Get the sense his conservatism would be up for compromise. Best not to go for someone because they are Hispanic or Black. Best to go for the content of their conservatism.

Conservatives and hispanics need Rubio's voice.

Since the implication of this article is that Mitt is going to be the nominee, and since Rubio seems to be equivocating about Mitt and furthermore and most importantly, since this is a conservative site, please just go pound sound and go elsewhere if you are going to push anything remotely supporting Mitt Romney the Progressive liberal.

Just

Go

Away.

We are not supporting pretend republicans this election cycle, or did you not get the message?

Rubio speaks well but doesn’t have executive experience, a long track record, and hasn’t been vetted in the public eye....sound familiar?

Perry would be a better choice, he’s got all the above, plus brings financial and popular support from a wealthy, populous, job-creating state.

Born in Miami, FLORIDA in 1971. His parents were Cuban citizens who became U.S. citizens in 1975. Babies born in the U.S. hold citizenship here even if their parents are not citizens.

you don't sound too reformed and are drinking the race and identity bs koolaid

let me explain

last election the white Christian vote was depressed compared to prior elections

because McCain was so socially lib

now you speak of latino votes...ok...even if you turn 20 percent of them...a very very tall order...it translates to only around a 2% total popular vote increase

you swing 20% of white voters and you would never lose another election till the Molochs come up to feast...

it's that simple...

for now...the way to win national elections is through the hearts and minds of White Voters....if you count those white latinos who don;t think of themselves as latino first...then the White Vote is over 80% of the electorate

55% of whites voted for McCain...in another year had they been motivated enough...just a couple of extra points there would have done it

look at 2010 votes and you will see...62% whites voted GOP...it was an epic landslide

what minority vote?

a waste of time but it might make ya’ll feel better

besides if we have to change to lure them then what is the point?

I'm 54 and have seen conservatives plead with blacks since before the black pandering acts of the early 60s...has any of that helped?

libs of both parties bought the black vote and the dems acquired the royalties

screw Rubio..he opposes Alabama and Arizona initiatives...Newt does not btw

Sorry to rain on your parade.

I mostly like Rubio, but he ain't the one.

---

Rubio was born in Miami, Florida,[5] the second son and third child of Mario Rubio (1927–2010)[6] and Oria Garcia (born 1931). His parents were Cubans who had emigrated to the United States in 1956 and were later naturalized as U.S. citizens in 1975.[7]"

Born Marco Antonio Rubio May 28, 1971 (age 40) Miami, Florida

http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Marco_Rubio

---

Many of you have asked about how the Minor v. Happersett definition of natural born citizen effects the eligibility of Mitt Romney and Marco Rubio to be President. First, let me reiterate that the Constitution should be applied to everyone equally. So, if Mitt, Marco, or anyone else meets the definition of Natural Born Citizen, they meet the minimum Constitutional qualifications to serve as President. If they don’t, they don’t.

The definition of Natural Born Citizen, as defined by the Supreme Court, has two elements: 1) you must be born in the U.S.; 2) both of your parents must be citizens of the U.S. at the time of your birth. If both of these elements are fulfilled, you are a Natural Born Citizen. Assuming Mitt was born in the U.S. and both of his parents were U.S. citizens at that time, then he is a NBC. I’ve been told, but don’t know for sure, that Marco was born here, but that his parents didn’t naturalize until Marco was 14 years old. If this is true, then Marco Rubio can never be a Natural Born Citizen. He can be a Senator, his children could be President, but Marco doesn’t meet the minimum Constitutional qualifications to be President. This means that he can’t be VP either.

Understand that this is a Constitutional matter. It has nothing to do with the experience, value, or skills of the individuals. Our Constitution simply says that you must meet the Natural Born Citizen requirements or you cannot be President.
