Gingrich reserved the raw razor edge of his criticism for DOLE, calling him "the Walter Mondale of the republican party".Among the conservatives, this is the ultimate insult.

How dare Gingrich criticize Former President Bob Dole, whose eight-year Administration we remember fondly!

If Newt gets to Washington, he will go all out rogue. This is why they are so afraid!

I only looked at this because the date was my 26th birthday. Knowing how I was in those days I was probably pretty smashed when Newt made this statement.

But it does take gall for Gingrich to boo-hoo about Dole not liking him after Dole helped Gingrich get a loan to pay off the Ethics Committee thingie and then Gingrich called him “Walter Mondale.”

note how even in 84 he was described as the leader of the hard line conservative republicans.

I didn’t think we would see the pro Dole faction jump in.

Gingrich - the True Conservative: support for global warming, cap and trade, amnesty, individual mandates, Medicare D, Dede Scuzzafava, I'm a Wilsonian, FDR was the greatest president of the 2oth century, the era of Reagan is over, etc., etc., etc.

Can anyone remember anything Gingrich supported that was conservative from the time he resigned from Congress (1999) until he decided to run for President (2010)?

Good thing for President Dole’s SCOTUS appointments. Had they not happened, Chief Justice Janice Rodgers Brown might never have rehabilitated Lochner, and all of the old New Deal and Great Society programs would still be in place. Take that, Newt!

I fully remember how the dynamic and charming Bob Dole crushed Slick Willie in 96 and prevented incidents such as Elian Gonzales illegal kidnapping from occuring.

You and your left wing buddies on FR helped to destroy Perry, and now you’re going after Newt.

You’re a piece of leftist garbage that didn’t get a zot yet. Time for you to go. Bye-bye.

Anyone who wants to know what bwc2221 is, look at this troll’s posting history the past five months. First it was Perry, and now he’s going after Newt.

Bob Dole was the tax collector for the welfare state.

The Demorats come up with these evil and expensive programs and dole finds the money from American citizens to fund them.

Is this supposed to be a bad thing? Heck, I was calling Dole a lot worse than that back in the day. Reminds me of how much I liked Newt and his "Young Turks" in those heady Reagan Revolution days of the 1980s.

Thankfully, Former President Bob Dole has joined with Former President John McCain to offer their expertise on “electability”.

After many seconds reviewing their own winning Presidential campaigns, they have pronounced Mitt Romney “the most electable”.

Fantastic!
