Is it “cognitive dissonance” or “demonic influence”?

Is the "reprobate mind" the result of cognitive dissonance? Somehow, I doubt it, to the extent that will is involved. The way Ann has been behaving lately evokes the idea of her having become a dummy of "diabolical ventriloquism" — to use C. S. Lewis' term, in the Preface to "Screwtape Proposes a Toast"....

The "'noise level" is so high today, it's difficult to figure out what's going on. But I'll hazard the following all the same.

There is a split in the Republican party which is going critical, as between: (1) the well-entrenched (and well-connected), basically non-ideological party establishment, and (2) its ideologically-charged conservative base. The split was made manifest in the Tea Party "movement" — which the party establishment mistrusts and quite possibly even loathes. The conservative base is sick and tired of being ignored and taken for granted, while the party poohbahs attempt to fill the Big Tent with so-called "moderates" and other various political groups who do not care a fig about the traditional principles for which the Republican Party has ever stood, until quite recently — preeminently individual liberty under just and equal laws.

I figure Ann Coulter has "chosen sides" here: She has aligned herself with the party establishment. Romney is their hand-picked candidate this year. Thus Ann will say whatever will help Romney (even if, as here, it is totally unintelligible!!!) — because the end justifies the means....

The "end" in question here being: political power. Period. But to what purpose???

I could same something similar about Karl Rove, a man for whom I have had enormous respect in the past. He's picked sides, too; and has aligned himself with the party establishment, which to my mind is hopelessly corrupt. To me, this sheds no credit on Mr. Rove at all.

It's weird; I used to regard these people as allies. No longer.

I'm sick and tired of having to "hold my nose" to vote for a GOP candidate that has been pre-selected for me (and seemingly backed with endless streams of money) by the party establishment. What is further sickening is the hypocrisy of certain party insiders who say they won't endorse any candidate, because the selection of the candidate must be left up to the voters. C'mon. The folks who are paying attention here already know that's a "done deal." At least, if the party establishment gets its way....

Anyhoot, I worry about this intra-party split in such a critical election year. It bodes ill for all Americans. For as we all know, "a house divided against itself cannot stand." And this can only be good news to the mystery man currently occupying the Oval Office, a man who cannot even pass the E-Verify check....

This is a battle for the soul of America. And so, I pray..... I pray our Lord will not abandon We the People in our time of crucial need.

No, this time Romney is strong enough as the front runner that Rush can play soft ball, although the gloves came off last week, because Newt was looking strong at the beginning of that week, Bloody Thursday paid off in spades for Mitt.

In 2008 when Romney was in trouble, Rush became very clear about which candidate he supported, and how he was vehemently against his challengers, we had no doubts then about his preference, with Romney almost inevitable this time, Rush does not need to be so bold.

“I think now, based on the way the campaign has shaken out, that there probably is a candidate on our side who does embody all three legs of the conservative stool, and that’s Romney.””

So am I, dearest sister in Christ, thank you for sharing your insights!

And I join in urgent prayer for our country.
