With just days to go before Nevada Republicans head to the polls to choose who they want to take on President Obama in November, reality show host Donald Trump is injecting himself into the race and endorsing Newt Gingrich.

Trump's office announced Wednesday that he would make a major announcement Thursday morning in Las Vegas, without providing details of what he would say.

Two sources confirmed to CBS News that the publicity savvy businessman plans to endorse the former House speaker in his bid for the Republican presidential nomination. Nevada holds its caucus Saturday.

Seriously, why does he get so much attention?

I just don’t get it.

I guess for the same reason that Kennedys, Rockefellers, and anyone else with power and influence gets attention.
(Easy answer to that one!).

I don’t see anyone other than Drudge saying Trump will endorse Mitt. His credibility is at stake here.

Well, according to the Friends he’s making “some sort of announcement” and he’s not going to endorse anyone...at least Gretchen is hoping. And Michelle Malkin just endorsed Little Ricky which gave them all the talking point that Newt is the spoiler and should get out.

Trump has a conbination P.T. Barnum/Schwartzenegger, and something else I can’t quite put my thumb on, that makes me a little uncomfortable.
That and he names everything after himself like he is kind of into himself a little bit to much.
Hope I am wrong.
Or, maybe in this mixed up world Trumps celebrity may be a plus?

Most likely this is another media created endorsement hype just like the one yesterday that ended up being a out and out lie.

That lie was that Michele Bachman was going to endorse Romney. It was a lie and the media created it.

I think they do it to keep the GOP infighting going full strength.

"Whatever Trump does will be trumped by its iffy and conditional provisos. His words have a short shelf-life."

Ahh....actually they do not. Thanks for checking-in. Great choice, Mr. Trump!

I couldn’t agree more. Frankly his endorsement might even hurt as voters can see right through this egomaniac. Poor Greta who so hoped he would endorse on her show which he seemingly has become a regular guest.

Gretchen has been hoping, praying, that The Donald will not endorse anyone and by the tone of her voice it’s just some silly announcement anyway. Wonder what the Friends will do every Monday when The Donald is a guest on the curvy couch—they can’t have him cheering on Newt. Notice that since Rudy said he was a “Newt guy” a month ago, he hasn’t been on.

"Most people don’t vote based on who endorses who...it may raise some heads but that’s about it.."

I hope Sarah makes her endorsement of Newt, soon. Her endorsement will help coelesce the women's vote for Newt, and her endorsement in general will help decide the GOP Nom.

The Trump endorsement is good for Newt. Lots of ‘free’ publicity, best of all the media can't spin him and they can't shut him up. Trump has almost a million followers on Twitter and he/assistant tweets out often.

Trump will bring the discussion of issues to the front page and his endorsement will help with fund raising efforts.

It’s all about his tax plan. Newt has a better one. Art Laffer prefers Newt’s plan over Mitt’s.

I hope Trump talks up Newt tax plan. It is better and it will get our economy going. This should be the number one topic of conversation, imo.

Lindsey KNOWS the SC primary was the writing on the wall foreshadowing the end of his political career.

From your lips to God's ears but how does he KNOW? What am I missing?

Thank You Mr. Trump.

Trump wants to rock the boat and sees what’s going on here. He sees the disgusting campaign waged afainst Newt and he sees how the GOP Establishment with all their little talking heads on TV and their chief webmaster Drudge tried to fix this thing. He sees how they want this over and how we should all just follow their lead and vote for Mitt. But a funny thing happened. Trump is a NO BS kind of guy when it comes to getting the job done and he sees Newt as another NO BS guy serious enough to actually do what he says he wants to do. I totally understand where he’s coming from. Now the only question remains - If Newt isn’t the nominee - Trump will not be satisfied with the candidate and then he has a decision to make. If Trump did jump in, he would see how the polls look and if it clearly looks like he cannot win and Obama will win, he will drop out at that point and endorse the Republican nominee (probably Romney). It’s getting interesting.

All of Fox’s talking heads are so clearly in the Fox Hole for Romney. When they talk about Newt - the body language, facial expressions and voice inflections are so obviously full of disdain. OTOH they are all smiles and clutching their hearts when discussing Romney - especially when there’s good news for him.

It is something to behold - but I only tune in for a couple of minutes and then change channels. HGTV, TLC, Discovery and the Travel ChannelS are good options.
