Jesus was not speaking of tax rates. Actually, Jesus steered rather clear of political issues.

There is another Biblical passage telling the story of the widow offering her mite. Jesus approved that, and held it up as an example. It is not a model for taxation, but it illustrates the principle that even those with little can give, and this makes them a participant in charity. Of course, the window’s gift was voluntary. Taxation is not.

In other passages, Jesus implies that what you do in small things determines also what you will do in important matters. If you give in to small temptations, how will you resist large ones?

If we have a country where almost half the populace is encouraged to loot the treasury (under “programs” for their “benefit”), then is it any wonder that some people of wealth will also act dishonestly, only on a larger material scale?

Step one for mac daddy: Being able to read the mind of Jesus.

Step two for mac daddy: Being equal to Jesus.

Step three for mac daddy: Placing himself before Jesus.

It is clear that being a theologian is above Obama’s pay scale.

The scriptures show that Jesus never supported forced compassion (Socialism) - Obama - but the scriptures show, too, that he didn’t support heartless capitalism, either - (Romney).

I'm no Romney fan, but I would not call him a heartless capitalist. Look at is charitable donations. That is hardly heartless.

Capitalism is about generating wealth by offering your others a good or service that they desire and are willing to pay for. Jobs are a by-product of capitalism, not its main focus. Individuals, not governments or businesses, should sponsor charities.

For example, suppose I own stock in a company. Now, the company decides to use some of its profit to support a left-wing charity. So now, it used money that should rightfully go to me as a stock owner, and used it for a purpose I find reprehensible. Instead, the company should give the profit to the stockholder, and then the stockholders can decide how their personal money should be used.

Merchants under the permission of the high preists.

Yup, and Jesus never said we HAD to take care of every lazy bum that decided to live off other peoples' hard labor. We give a lot to charities, but I refuse to let this idiot in the white hut tell me to give more so he can get more votes.

Actually, Jesus wouldn’t have even subscribed to our republican form of government. As King of the Universe, Jesus is a monarchist.

[ Not only are his statements offensive to Christians but nothing says he is not a Christian like talking about these things at a National Prayer Breakfast. ]

I watch the Breakfast on C-Span to see Jackie Evancho sing “To Believe”... but the audio really sucked..

Here is a better rendition of it.. by her.. (at another venue)

“Render to Caesar”
_____________________________

what is Caesar’s and to God what is God’s...

Ceasar Barry reads FR so he sent some plants to a meeting that the LORD Jesus Christ was having...

“Teacher,” they said, “we know that you speak and teach what is right and are not influenced by what others think. You teach the way of God truthfully. Now tell us—is it right for us to pay taxes to Caesar or not?”

The LORD Jesus Christ saw through their trickery and said, “Show me a Roman coin. Whose picture and title are stamped on it?”

“Caesar Barry’s,” they replied.

“Well then,” He said, “give to Caesar what belongs to Caesar, and give to God what belongs to God.”

So Barry failed to trap Him by what He said in front of the people. Instead, Barry and his cohorts were amazed by His answer, and they became silent.

It sickens me that some speech writers for Obama just scan the bible in order to find passages taken out of context to support their big government taxation.

If you read Luke 12 and particularly 12:48 from which his quote about “from those who much is given much is expected” it isn’t referring to money. Nowhere in Luke 12 is money mentioned expect the last word “penny” which still is not a reference to the use of money itself.

Luke 12 speaks about knowledge and the spreading of the Word through believers. The more you know, the greater the responsibility to share that and wait on the Lord until his return.

Disgusting opportunistic, blasphemous, wretched man.

The views of St. John Chrysostom on the matter are far more likely to reflect Our Lord's attitude than those held by any American politician:

“Should we look to kings and princes to put right the inequalities between rich and poor? Should we require soldiers to come and seize the rich person’s gold and distribute it among his destitute neighbors? Should we beg the emperor to impose a tax on the rich so great that it reduces them to the level of the poor and then to share the proceeds of that tax among everyone? Equality imposed by force would achieve nothing, and do much harm. Those who combined both cruel hearts and sharp minds would soon find ways of making themselves rich again.

Worse still, the rich whose gold was taken away would feel bitter and resentful; while the poor who received the gold from the hands of soldiers would feel no gratitude, because no generosity would have prompted the gift. Far from bringing moral benefit to society, it would actually do moral harm. Material justice cannot be accomplished by compulsion, a change of heart will not follow. The only way to achieve true justice is to change people’s hearts first—and then they will joyfully share their wealth.”

-– St. John Chrysostom on the poor from On Living Simply XLIII

The rich pay more not only because “I actually think that is going to make economic sense, but for me as a Christian, it also coincides with Jesus’s teaching that ‘for unto whom much is given, much shall be required.’” Obama said at the Washington Hilton, delivering remarks at an annual event that every president has attended since Dwight D. Eisenhower.

1st.  When did Barry become "a Christian"?  Thought he had "a faith"?

2nd.  You damn right!  "for unto whom much is given, much shall be required"!!!
People on Welfare get plenty and they should be given snow plows in the winter to clear driveways and sidewalks for the elderly and infirm.

They should be givin shovels in the spring to prepare the ground for planting their winter harvest.

Then in the summer, they should be given an axe to cut their firewood for the coming winter.

Jesus just might have plenty to say to Obama and the Democrats about their idolization of Marx and the government’s redistribution of wealth as opposed to Jesus’s teaching of relying on God.
Destroying the wealth of the rich is their real god.

The passage Obama is quoting here refers to spiritual knowledge. It has nothing to do with money. But hey, why let facts get in the way of manipulating the voters during an election?
