Komen head: Planned Parenthood lost funding because they don’t do cancer screenings
LifeSiteNews.com ^ | February 2, 2012 | By Kathleen Gilbert

February 2, 2012 (LifeSiteNews.com) - In a tense exchange with MNSBC’s Andrea Mitchell Thursday, the founder of the Susan G. Komen for the Cure explained that her group stopped funding Planned Parenthood because the abortion organization doesn’t actually provide cancer screenings, but simply refers patients to other clinics.

While extreme vitriol has been aimed at the breast cancer foundation following the news of their decision this week, Komen founder and CEO Nancy Brinker says the decision was simply the result of putting “metrics, outcomes, and measures” to their grants for better use of funds. Mitchell objected, questioning Komen’s possible political motivations, pointing out that Komen’s grants to Planned Parenthood for breast cancer screening “have nothing to do with any contraceptive or abortion counseling.”

“That’s not the issue, because that’s not our issue,” Brinker replied. “Our issue is grant excellence. [Planned Parenthood clinics] do pass-through grants with their screening grants: they send people to other facilities. We want to do more direct service grants.”

The article states that Planned Parenthood provides screenings (mammograms) to women, but a Live Action sting found that in fact Planned Parenthood does not offer this service...

Komen’s funding of PP never made sense to me for just this reason, regardless of one’s feelings about abortion.

So much for PP claiming most of their money isn’t earned or directed at abortion. Cat’s out of the bag by another liberal group. To hell with both of them. Like breast cancer is the only cancer that has to get attention over all other forms.

An important excerpt from the article:

The Daily Caller reported Thursday that Komen for the Cure’s donations have doubled in the past two days.

FOX (Shemp) proudly proclaimed this evening that the baby killers have pulled in more money since Komen pulled their funding than the amount they were receiving from Komen. If that’s true, what the hell is the problem? The baby killers should be thrilled that Komen pulled their funding.

Lie down with dogs, wake up with fleas. Komen should never have touched Planned Parenthood with a ten foot pole. Hopefully this controversy will awaken many supporters of Susan G. Komen as well as those who have had breast cancer or who have loved ones who had breast cancer. This is really a public relations disaster for Planned Parenthood. It is a good thing that this toxic organization that rode the crest of the feminist wave is finally being exposed to women, many of whom have been brainwashed by the “prochoice” lies.

Planned Parenthood wants to bully people, they want people to be afraid of them. They forget that bullies don’t have many friends. Planned Parenthood will be losing many of their donations and will no longer be seen as a “mainstream” organization. It’s about time.

The Komen website was hacked.

See the article on Freerepublic.com:

Pro-aborts hack Komen website over cutting Planned Parenthood

Instead of having text about the run for the cure, the hackers put:

... “Help us run over poor women on our way to the bank.”

Komen's donations are up dramatically right now, so it is a win situation for Komen.

But the 22 Senators who claimed it was wrong for Komen to pull the funding should read this article. It is my opinion they have egg on their faces...

It makes even less sense when you understand that abortion is a risk factor for breast cancer.

Everyone should donate now that the vile PP is not getting cash from them.

I've lost two good friends to breast and cervical cancer, women in their 30's and it's got to stop.

The article states that Planned Parenthood does not do screenings and that's why the Komen people pulled their plug.

Two articles about the Planned Parenthood claim that it does Mammograms [since Planned Parenthood claim they do perform Mammograms, they must provide no Mammograms] One can always bet on what Planned Parenthood says is a lie...

Abortion is an intrusion on pregnancy which is a natural process. Abortion involves using sharp instruments and suctioning out a baby who is not ready to come out. During the birth process, the baby comes out at his/her own time which is followed by the passing of the placenta leaving the uterus free of any tissue that does not belong there. Abortion is totally unnatural and dangerous to both mother and child.

PP just does breast exams. Breast exams are not that important in the age group of women who need real screening. They need mammograms which PP does not do. Self breast exams are much better than once a year exam by anyone including a physician. I know this cause I am a physician. Unless the woman is mentally challenged someway they always find the lump first. PP is not needed in the breast cancer fight. Komen would be much better off giving grants for mobile mammography to areas where it is needed. Not some dang PP clinic.

A good resource for young women and women (and girls) is the Breast Cancer Prevention Institute

The head of this organization is a breast cancer surgeon who has lost her own mother to breast cancer. She is an MD. There a number of other MD's (Medical Doctors) on the board of this organization. The exception is a PhD in Biology who specializes in hormone research (estrogen) and other aspects that impact breast cancer...

Breast Cancer incidents started going up after the introduction of the pill in the 1960's. Why? Estrogen is a carcinogen -- the constant release of the hormone in the body is bad for women.

Additionally, the estrogen in the birth control pill is an artifical hormone -- hard on the body in general, and hard on the liver.

Abortion is also a breast cancer risk because it starts a natural process (pregnancy) abruptly.

A normal pregnancy will end with childbirth and breastfeeding.

Both of these factors PREVENT breast cancer.

There are four types of cells in the breast for women -- Types I, II, III, and IV. After childbirth, the woman normally only have Type IV -- which do not cause cancer.

On the other hand, abortion causes the breast to start to mature, but normally occurs after producing lots and lots of Type II cells -- the type most associated with breast cancer.

The Breast Cancer Prevention Institute has some good literature but the best is the Breast Cancer: Risks and Prevention (4th Edition)

Get the booklet to your friends. You can purchase information from them or use the online information. They have pamphlets as well.

Donating money to this organization might be better than donating to Susan G. Komen.

I would hope that you and your friends would make time to read the information from this organization.
