There are no blocked parallel arteries on my commute. Traffic has increased dramatically in the last few months. We need to face the truth. For whatever reason the economy is apparently taking a turn for the better, at least where I live. It may just be that people have given up on being unemployed and are taking lower paying jobs or it may be that this is the year the trillion dollar stimulus package is being used.

I anticipate that the economy is going to improve between now and November, and that is a fact we are going to have to be prepared to deal with.

Pretending or even hoping that things are getting worse going into this election is not a viable strategy. Unemployment will likely be below 8% by the time of the election. I don’t know why, but it will be.

This is true. We hit rock bottom and there was no where to go but up. Sticking your head in the sand and denying reality is not a good strategery. Truth is, massaged results or not, the economy is improving. It was bound to improve, its what happens after a recession. Obama will take as much credit as possible, and the MSM will carry his water for him.

All they have to do is convince the small number of people who actually matter in a presidential election (perhaps 10% of voters), and the job is done.

The republican nominee better have the right message and presentation, or he is sunk. As I have said all along, its going to be much harder to beat Obama than most people on FR have thought.

For whatever reason the economy is apparently taking a turn for the better ...

And your basing that on what exactly? The BLS numbers? They're bogus!

Do you know what the birth/death rate is with respect to the published BLS numbers? This is a part of the formula they use to come to their fictitious numbers. They literally GUESS that there must have been x number of new small businesses formed last month in the US economy and y number of small businesses that have folded. So by manipulating the GUESS they can make the final number employment numbers say anything they want.

Agreed.

I am tired of Freepers trying to wish the economy bad for political reasons.

It’s silly.

These are people’s lives we are talking about, not just an election.

Yeah, this will make it harder to beat Obama. But, that’s the GOP’s luck. We ought to be used to thinks getting better just in time for the other side to pull a win.

Even though his policies have made things worse, at some point I think employers will start hiring again pretty much no matter what.

We will see.
