NEWT'S NEVADA PRESS CONFERENCE VIDEO (My title)
Freedom's Lighthouse ^ | 2-5-12 | Staff

Posted on 02/04/2012 10:10:58 PM PST by VinL

Here is complete video of a combative Newt Gingrich holding a Press Conference tonight after finishing a distant second or third (still unclear) in the Nevada GOP Caucuses. Gingrich said he is going to stay in the GOP Presidential Race until the end – all the way to the Convention in August. He predicted he will be back as the frontrunner by the time of the Texas Primary (April 3), and plans to focus on March 6 Super Tuesday states in the weeks ahead.

Gingrich slammed Mitt Romney over and over again, calling him “fundamentally dishonest,” and saying he has been “shocked” at how negative and dishonest Romney’s Campaign against him has been....

Newt is well researched. He knows the facts and remembers everything. Newt is learning how little Mitt knows and how deficient he will be as the candidate. They will have to hide a earpiece in Mitt’s ear like they did for Zer0 if Mitt is going to cut it in the debates with Zer0.

I really don't have a dog in this hunt. My favorite hopefuls decided for some reason not to run, so I can be counted as one of those undecided delegates. But what Newt was doing weeks ago that got my attention, he stopped doing. He is turning me off by playing the mudslinging game with Romney, without shame. Strong Newt supporters will not be shaken, as you can see here on FR, but the majority of Republicans voting in the primaries and caucuses are not die hard Newt supporters. They are just looking for the candidate with the “R” after his name that comes across as the most likable and that they think has the best chance of taking on Obama. Right now Newt is showing he can't even take on Romney, without losing his focus.

I disagree.

Newt demonstrated he could go one on one with the Jon Stewart media while letting the GOP-Proud establishment know he was not going to be bullied.

Then he gave a homework assignment to the voters to find out what the 1% has to say about the difference in Obama and Romney. I seriously doubt many Americans have ever heard of $0r0$ and his function in funding liberal policies and politicians.

The Jon Stewart media is NOT going to be throwing the ‘bain-washed’ Romney a life vest when the sharks of the liberal party start cleaning his 1% clock.

Romney lost to the guy who lost to Obama in the general.

Voters need to think about that. If they take Newt out, hello Obama.

How, pray tell, do you ignore a whole herd of raging bulls charging you simultaneously the way they have been hitting Newt? They didn’t call it bloody Thursday for nothing.

The entire thing sent shockwaves throughout the grassroots. Imagine Gingrich standing on a stage being pummeled with intentional lie after intentional lie and not being allowed to respond.

As much as we know about romney AND the establishment, none of us have ever had to face him and none of US expected the all out coordinated attack on Gingrich from within the GOP.

I believe the man was literally stunned at the dishonesty and the vitriol arrayed against him, not to mention that he IS human and it had to have hurt deeply. Or do you not expect a man to have feelings and be hurt?

And spare me the “he should grow a thicker skin” schtick, because the long knives were out in force and they were out to kill, not wound. The mere fact that he is still standing is a testament to his fortitude and I will stand right there with him all the way to the finish line.

He plans to show the difference and contrast between him and romney in a factual way... without resorting to negative attacks, unless necessary. He will not unilaterally disarm. And then making the same contrast between himself and Obama. Soros’ endorsement of Willard Your Worst Nightmare plays into that nicely.

He plans to do both, and needs to do both simultaneously. Willard has been disguising who and what he really is. Willard isn’t in Newt’s head, you heard some jackwagon reporter say that, so mimicking the press talking points, in a very genuine and concerned way, of course.

I don't see the news conference as sad and whiny. I watched it 2 times after the people on Fox were very unfair. It was not at all. Biggest point he hit Romney as being dishonest so that will carry on. Newt has to take any opportunity that he can because he has everyone in the media against him. He is just an authentic person, gusty and bold ideas driven. He has been hit very hard and he is still standing. I have to respect that vs. pulling him apart.

I hate that “rent-free living inside someone’s head” business. What, you can’t talk about someone without his “living inside your head”? This seems to be an inane statement from people who don’t want to hear what someone is saying.

I remember ten years ago when everyone was describing people as “inserting themselves” into the situation or discussion. When they didn’t want to hear from you, you were suddenly “inserting yourself” somewhere.

Newt has plenty of time to attack Obama. He has to fight the problem he has now first.

Speaker Gingrich is about as experienced with political nastiness as one could be. Trust me... I was on Capital Hill when he was Speaker.

You can respond and still keep the focus on Obama. I want him to win and from talking with others - he scores the most points when he focuses on Obama. He is brilliant when he is focused on Obama.

Unfortunately, many folks I have talked with think he appears petty and hateful because the media (and I agree - they are overwhelmingly trying to make him look bad) just pick soundbites of his attacks on Romney. They twist these to look bad.

I usually think you respond (Lord knows I wished Bush had) to this kind of crap but when they twist your responses and that is the only soundbite they show it is a losing strategy.

We want the same thing FRiend. I think Romney is the snake but after the media finishes reporting every evening they make someone else look bad. He can’t win with the media and he should have learned this lesson because he has been around long enough.

The problem with Republicans is that too many of them actually believe they are “friends and colleagues” with the MSM. The MSM are diehard leftists and that always trumps the fake handshakes on the talking head circuit.

He is playing their game. They set the rules and he won’t win in the gutter.

This press conference showed the press at their worst.

That's so but Newt Gingrich eviscerated the lamestreamers, especially the guy trying to get under his skin about Romney. Gingrich is unflappable and handles these lesser men with aplomb.

What a breathtaking statement. Any one with an honest bone in their body who can go back and view all that has happened would never state what you just stated.

Mitt has unleashed the most destructive, vile and despicable attack on Newt. Mitt is the one slinging mud, Mitt is the one lying about being Conservative. Since 2008 Mitt has given the orders to his ruthless staff to destroy any and all Conservatives who stand in his way. It was Mitt's people (Schmidt, Nicole Wallace) who led the blatant attacks on Sarah Palin, beginning in mid Sep 08.

It's Mitt's minions who were quoted in the past few weeks as saying "We're not going to FL to defeat Newt, we going to FL to destroy Newt Gingrich.

Those who say Newt looked bad, tired, bitter or whatever say such because they DO NOT support him. It is that simple.

I just viewed the presser and Newt was measured, tough and quite wise in many of his comments.

Politics is tough and brutal.

I want a fighter who will not put up with the bullc*ap and lies from anyone. I want that person to fight back.

My first choice was Sarah but she did not run. I was skeptical of Newt because of his AGW stance.

No one is perfect. The more I thought about what we face and the more I saw Newt, I came to the conclusion that he can indeed, once in office, turn our Republic back towards Liberty.

Newt is getting better by the week and money is really starting to flow into his campaign.

As it stands, Newt and all who support him have to battle: The lying vile Mitt, the GOP-e, the contemptible FAUX news, the rest of the MSM. That is a very tough group to defeat. But, I know it is possible and I feel that he will overcome the elites. He will do it because more and more Americans will be hearing his message and moving to believe he is the true Conservative in the race.

My certainty rests on the knowledge that Sarah Palin, will at the proper time move to support Newt fully in the battle against the Statists that infest so much of our Society.

For our Republic to survive two vile Statists must be defeated -- Obama and Romney. I feel confident they will be defeated.

Here is the deal... Bloody Thursday is OVER!!!

A candidate that is not the “front-runner” gets little time to get in front of the voter. It he spends his time talking about the past and reminding the voter that he lost, he eats up his airtime and does not get his message out. If he does get time to pivot in an interview and then talks about how he wants to go positive, he looks like a hypocrite.

NEWS FLASH to Newt, you may HATE Romney and FR may hate him but the VAST majority of voters do not HATE him. They may have reservations, but not hate. HOWEVER, they can't stand Obama. Stay on Obama, point out Romney's record, WHEN NEEDED, but get off the tit for tat crap!!!

Newt needs to keep focused on the voter and what they want. Let me give you a real life story to make my point. I have 13 nieces and nephews. We buy small gifts for all of them at Christmas. When I got to the store, I try to think like them and not worry about what I want them to have. I never give them something that violates my values at the same time. However I have a sister-in-law who always buy what she wants them to have. Well guess what? They always LOVE my gifts and HATE hers.

While Newt may want to go after Romney and get it out of his system what a snake he is, the average voter does not that. They WANT him to go after Obama. He is the object of their ire. Not Romney. Newt has the conservative vote. He needs the other Republicans. I think if he sticks to Obama he will rise in the polls like crazy!

Essentially, what you are saying us that Newt is surrounded by political murderers so he should just roll over and play dead so they stop shooting at him.
Well, that isn’t going to happen either. This looks to me like kill or be killed. The press is NEVER going to cut him a break so he has to go out and over them one way or another.
I say Lock and Load. And we should do the same. If they DO kill him, let him go down fighting. At this point we have everything to win and not a whole heck of a lot left to lose. That makes us dangerous.

And you see no similarities between romney and obama? You don’t think these things should be mentioned? YOU don’t think that if Newt starts rising in the polls again they will do far worse than they have already done? YOU think they will simply allow him to make that kind of a comeback with no response?

I understand your sentiment. The media has tried to drag our candidates down with gotcha and setup questions throughout the process.

I just don’t see a way for Gingrich to win a food fight with Willard given the dishonesty of the “Rommedia”.

That is why I think Gingrich should stay mostly focused on Obama. That does not mean he can’t respond but he needs to stick with where he shines the most. Nobody wins a foodfight and the media understands that.

The Obama administration does’nt have to do a thing right now. They know we are tearing ourselves apart and the media is still waiting to throw salt on whomever emerges.

Of course I think Romney is Obama-lite and I think it is perfectly okay for Newt to point that out and refer to Romney's liberal record. But to keep banging the “he is out spending me” drum makes him look like a whiner.

If he rises in the polls and Mitt pulls out the slime machine again, it will be glaringly obvious at this point that Mitt is just a smear machine.

Newts winning strategy, IMO, is to go HARD after Obama and then give a hopeful message.

I see your point, but unless you are a political junkie, like we are. the general public doesn’t understand the smear machine.

Money in a political race is a very big factor. The GOP tactics were a very big tactic.

Why not bring things to the attention of people?
