1998 is not exactly a badge of honor these days... plenty of your class have been purged by Jim. You are the one that said we are worthless... your reply points to a change of heart. I don't want you to leave... you are the one that intimated that.

You need to go search the Rush archives for a day or so after the report was released.

I don’t rely on 2nd hand info. You should do the same and spend an hour with the report. I did when the story broke, because the 16 trillion claim was so outlandish.

Of course, it was pure crap, spun to make Bush and the Fed look bad....paultard SOP.

You can’t make conservative decisions if you don’t know the truth of the matter at hand.

Well, that is some consolation at least! Once people can see without the “party” filter, there is maybe some chance we can actually communicate once again.

It really does not matter whether you or Rush are correct... 24 trillion or 16 trillion... we can never pay it back and it will break the backbone of this republic. Check the numbers and then run the figures and tell me how many years it will take to pay off this debt. One variable... will we quit spending and pay it down or will try to pay it down and keep spending?

You must keep in mind the interest payments that we are making on this debt and check out what we spent last year in interest on the debt alone... figuring this into the equation... it would take hundreds of years to pay it down if we quit spending a dime and paid the debt back at 100 million dollars a day... and that happening is beyond reality... so I am back to the conclusion that it does not matter. I do not think that there is any way that DC as it exists today, has the will to cut spending as far as it needs to be cut and then shrink government and abolish many agencies and stop gubmint unions etc... there is no will to do it in the leadership of either party.

We have passed the point at which we can cover what we owe... and the value of the dollar and our credit rating goes lower with each borrowed dollar that obama and the dims spend... of course... along with the republicans helping them spend it all.

The only way to gain on the existing debt is to outgrow it. That is what both Reagan and Bush tried to do. It is politically impossible to cut our way completely out of it, but the right mix of cuts and revenue increases through growth could get it to a manageable state.

Obama doesn't have the brains to figure that out, and so for now, we are in dire straights. But it is not insurmountable, just very painful to face.

We have to replace Obama to even begin, and blaming Bush or the Republicans is not helping....particularly when it is undeserved. That is the reason I called you on your post. Conservatives need to put the heat on Obama, not make excuses for him by trying to make out Bush as anything like him. The TARP and the loans to GM/Chrysler had to be done...circumstances demanded them, whereas Obama threw away the money on the auto makers along with a trillion in porkulus...strictly for political gain.

Put the blame for the huge increase in the debt where it belongs, on Obama's doorstep and help dump him, not blame Bush and help reelect him. That is all I ask. Its a matter of focus.

Thank you for not flaming, and have a good evening.

No, Reagan did not do the same. He did not give Chrysler one dime. He used the faith and credit of the federal government of the US to co-sign the loans and get preferred rates.

Chrysler was always on the hook. Reagan did the same for Harley-Davidson.

And the plan Bush put into place, illegally, already screwed the bond holders before Obama took over. By this time in his presidency he was calling it in.

Loans from the taxpayers. He didn’t co-sign a note at a private bank.

It was a stupid idea and the libs pulled the wool over another Bush. The money went to union pensions and the bond holders were told to drop dead.

That’s communism. Look it up.

Oops, getting senile. Carter signed the agreement with Chrysler. I was thinking Harley-Davidson.

You too Hun... we go way back and no way I will flame you. We can disagree and not go down the road that too many here go down. You just see the republicans in a different light than I do. I used to think that they had some credibility but after boehner and mcconnell conspired behind closed doors and lied to our faces while doing it... and abrogating their Constitutional duties to an unconstitutional Super Committee... I saw the light. DC must be purged. dims should hold no more that 30-35% of the seats in DC... that is about the number of liberals in America... there should be 0 progressive republican seats. I used to call them rinos but the republican party today is a progressive party... they just look conservative when standing next to the dims... who are communists.

Communism

All Bush did was give the automakers a loan. Even what Obama did wasn't communism...if he had taken the factories over, shot the executives, and given the workers that were left a five year production plan, that would be communism.

Obama just kissed the unions' asses for votes, at the expense of the bond and share holders....

Hmmmm, let’s see:

“if he had taken the factories over” - I seemed to remember Obama giving speeches to auto workers telling them that they need to stop building gas guzzling trucks and build eco-friendly cars that “people want” (which they don’t - Volt anyone?). Sounds like taking over the factories to me.

“shot the executives” - okay, not technically but they did run out the CEO of GM and I’m sure many of his staff and replaced him with a statist that supports the left.

“and given the workers a five year production plan” - Again, see above. If the Volt wasn’t a “five year plan” it was as close to it since the government (through CAFE standards) are dictating what kind of vehicles get made. Worse of all, their “plans” are more like ten to twenty year stupid ideas.

Close enough to communism to me! Of course I’m a neophyte since I actually thought Clinton getting bj’s in the WH was “sex”! lol
