[Madison, Wisc...] Citizens not affiliated with either the recall organizations or the office holders targeted for recall this spring have found scores of problems with the petitions, but Wisconsins elections watchdogs have decided they will not consider any of their evidence.
GAB Director and General Counsel Kevin Kennedy said there is no process in place for accepting information from outside groups and individuals. Governor Scott Walker and the four Republican state senators against whom recall petitions were filed last month are the only parties that can contest the validity of signatures, according to Kennedy.
The GAB will not investigate or consider independently-submitted evidence of recall petition fraud. This includes circumstances wherein individuals might notify the board that their own name and forged signature were submitted.
According to the GAB, anyone concerned that their signature was fraudulently included on a recall petition, therefore, must notify not the GAB, but rather the target of the recall. In addition, they must do so by the challenge deadline if they want that signature reviewed and ultimately, possibly, struck.
Staff believes the Board should only rely on information that is developed by the staff in its petition review, submitted by the officeholders in a challenge or the petitioners in response to determine the sufficiency of recall petitions, wrote GAB Executive Director and General Counsel Kevin Kennedy in a memo to GAB members Tuesday.
The GAB discussion on the petition review criteria and process focused on their minimum statutory requirements. However nothing in state statutes prohibits the GAB from considering independently-gathered evidence of fraud.
Given the unprecedented nature of these recall efforts it would be improper to change procedures in the midst of our review, Kennedy wrote.
The four Republican state senators have until Thursday to challenge signatures. Governor Walkers challenges are due Feb. 27 and Lt. Gov. Rebecca Kleefisch has until March 5 since she received copies of the petitions seeking her recall a week after Walker.
The GAB has until March 19 to verify all of the petitions.

Even if they "win" the battle, you are showing them that you will fight them on every front.
Hopefully the Republicans are willing to play hardball in every instance, and have a "scorched earth" approach to these leftist Democrats. Show no mercy, never compromise, no "bi-partisanship", destroy them completely because that will always be, and has always been, their plan for your team.
Can you tell I'm on your side? LOL
I have been doing it also and have had names not matching, people just signing with initials, and definitely many who the same person filled out almost all the info, but no Donald Ducks yet.....
Yep, according to the VTR guy who was on with Vicki this afternoon, they’re prepared to go to court, but in any event they will be posting EVERYTHING on the web for all to see. Despite this idoicy of GAB the Walker and state Senators campaigns will be able to use this information, even though they can’t directly be involved in the 501C4s.
Eventually there will be adults in charge who will come down on this GAB like a ton of bricks, and reform the much-abused recall process too. The GAB is an embarrassment of Illinois-proportion (I’m an ex-Wisconsin resident currently living south of the Cheddar Curtain)
Forgot to add: Volunteers are entering petition names/addresses at the rate of 2.7 entries per second!
Doing the work GAB won’t do.
We had an incredible amount of volunteers here checking the Walker recall petitions. It was impressive! We were very surprised to receive 8 boxes of Kleefish recall petitions on Saturday. We had sent back all the rented chairs and tables!
The local Ace Hardware called on Monday and offered to lend us as many tables and chairs that we needed at no charge and they delivered them later that day. Kudos to Ace Hardware in Waukesha.
This is also nice, we have a Cousin’s Sub practically next door and they sent over a huge party platter of subs and chips and cookies. Local businesses are supporting us.
That is the nicest thing I’ve ever heard. (Tables, chairs, and sandwiches supplied by local merchants.) I took a spill on the ice on Jan. 28 on my way to the Germantown Center. I went anyway and bled all over the Walker petitions.
I worked my shift, but I was so stiff by the time I finished that I have been unable to go back. I’ve worked from home since then. Today is the first day (a week and a half after my fall) that I have been able to get out of the house. I’m confined at home again tomorrow and Thursday because I have new windows being installed, so I shall work on VTR.
Wisconsin Recall Mania Ping
If you want on, or off, this Wisconsin interest list, just FReep Mail me.
I’ve been keying in petition data as a volunteer for Verify the Recall and will continue to do so. As a minimum, organizations doing this can feed information and “leads” to the Governor’s, LieuGov’s and the affected Senators’ staffs for them to use in challenging.
Keep the faith and don’t let a**holes such as the members of Wisconsin GAB discourage you. That is their intent and they will not succeed.
My personal belief is that all the recall elections will likely end up happening but that almost all the folks will prevail. As a minimum, this verification effort will identify some of the “usual suspects” that commit election related fraud and their efforts can be points of focus in similar future situations. It’s all good folks; definitely keep plugging away against the “progressive” elite.
