The details are unbelievable.
This is Mitt Romney's $12 million dollar tear-down on the La Jolla beachfront.
Does this make sense for a political actor in a grinding fight with the GOP conservatives who doubt his credentials? Or with a class warfare ace like POTUS Obama? Doe Romney think through his symbols.
A tear-down in that neighborhood in the midst of the California property collapse? Okay. Why does Romney want to be president? Why does Romney want to live on the La Jolla beachfront? There may not be answers. What a wonderful mystery.
Following the Rick Santorum sweep with no money to rely upon, no advertising to mention, no organization to speak of, can Romney continue to assume the nomination is his to lose?
The wealthy donors who are backing Mitt Romney thus far must be growling into their speakerphones to their advisers: Is this guy a loser or what?
It is creepy that Romney doesn't figure that Obama can beat him over the head with a multi-million dollar pile of a tear-down.
What other symbols does Romney not understand about campaigning in America for the Independent vote?
Gee.

This house is for the use of his large family. He won’t make CA a permanent residence because of high income taxes. But he can still spend the winter months there with the family.
Lots of rich people are doing the tear down of small old homes in San Diego and Lajolla and building larger homes for part time use. We live on the coast and have lots of examples in our neighborhood.
I say good on Mitt! This class warfare and jealousy crap is for the birds!
I’ve moved past anger and bargaining. I’m entering depression. (5 stages of grief).
There is no one on the GOP side who can win. Romney has set himself up as the prototypical “fat cat”. Team Obama will shred him.
Gingrich is just too darn volatile. Self destruction is in his DNA.
Santorum has better credentials than, but has the same charisma as Tim Pawlenty.
There’s lots of reasons that I dislike Mitt, but this isn’t one of them. How many homes he has, and how expensive they are is irrelevant.
Given the drop in property values, people are buying in fabulous areas ... cheap.
Then they are putting their soon to be worthless dollars into building mansions.
Tis better today to be in real property instead of dollars.
Mitt can do whatever he wants with his money. He’s an odd duck, though.
I live at Lake Geneva, WI, where people such as the Wrigley family live, and as we speak they are tearing down beautiful estates and erecting bigger homes.
Some people just have money. Get used to it! And what about Tiger Woods’ ex. Didn’t she tear down a beachfront home to erect a new, bigger one in Florida?
It is also irrelevant to me but it is to many people, of course most of them are democrats, but this will be used as something to incite the democrat base and I question the timing of this which reflects on Romney’s judgement or lack of.
If I may be permitted......we HAD the charisma thing with Slick Wille. If I have to make a choice between a character with charisma, and a MAN with a burden to save the Constitution, I’ll say screw charisma. It’s time to GET REAL!
It gives people the impression (accurately, I think) that he really doesn't understand or give a sh!t what most Americans are going through.
Yes but very few people runing for president would do such a politically bone headed thing.
“Why does Romney want to live on the La Jolla beachfront?”
Aside from the staggering beauty, the perfect waves, the constantly radiant weather and the most beautiful women on the planet strolling on your lawn?
Gee, I dunno.
Mitt cannot do whatever he wants with his money
AND
be President.
Every day, in every way, Mitt is transforming himself into exactly who Obama wants to run against.
I wouldn't vote for her for dogcatcher, and I won't vote for an out-of-touch elitist like Romney for President.
That house already takes up nearly the whole lot. Where’s he going to expand to? The only way to go is up. Some people have more money than sense.
If I'm not mistaken, that mansion was built in the 20's and is not up to the current hurricane safety codes for Florida, plus it was riddled with termites.
Exactly. There's nothing stopping anyone from setting up a dummy corporation in the Cayman Islands and running your business through it to take advantage of the these low tax jurisdictions.
It's perfectly legal and no one should be envious of anyone who can take advantage of every legal financial and tax loophole to get wealthy.
This is still America.
Like Saudi Arabian billionaires having solid gold toilets......their crap still smells the same....I'd love to have a million dollars a year, but sure could find better ways to spend it..
If every freeper sent me just 10 dollars each, I could be rich....who will be the first one to send. I'll get a PO box and thank you all for your generosity....will think of you all while I sit on the beach with my margarita.. GG
My wants are simple....:O)
