Fukishima is modern? I thought they didn’t even have a heat exchanger, which means water from the reactor drives the turbine directly.
There was nothing wrong with the reactor design at Fukushima. The secondary side of the plant was the problem. That and the sea wall was insufficient (which they had been warned about).
Fukushima Reactor 1 was designed by GE, built by TEPCO, and began service in 1971. I don’t think that qualifies as “modern,” but opinions may vary.
