Thank you for your post; it is very informative and clarifies the macro-view of our current political system. I might add it is also very troubling, in that it points out that those who are for liberty, and, therefore against both Romney and the GOP-E machine (that would include me), are arrayed against an extremely powerful, deeply entrenched bureaucracy that is firmly attached even at the “grass roots” level. To effectively change the current system we will have to thoroughly “weed out” and “reseed” those “grassroots” as well.

Your post also leads me to the conclusion that there is a need for term limits even at the state level. To me the “bottom line” is that continuing to maintain any permanent political class at any level will, by its very nature, ultimately cause the suppression of our God given rights as a free people and the death of the Republic.

Looks like a long, hard, uphill battle ahead of us even if we should be fortunate enough to elect a Conservative into the presidency. At least understanding the problem and the nature of its solution gives me some hope.

I think it is easy to get caught up in politics of AGW and conclude that, because the proponents of that argument have been pushing a fraudulent argument w/manufactured “conclusions,” there is no merit at all to the argument that some climatic effects are related to changes man has made in the environment.

That may be an erroneous conclusion. For instance, there does seem to be evidence that “heat islands” are created in or near large cities which can affect the “micro-climate” in their vicinity. Whether that is of significant importance to cause the need for large scale banning of so called “greenhouse gases” is, of course, dubious at best. Never-the-less, the impact of these heat islands does deserve further study to see if some remedial action might be necessary.

Newt's stand on the environment seems to me to be one of legitimate intellectual concern and should be thought of as such. The “spamming” of the picture of Newt w/Nancy Pelosi in an disingenuous attempt to imply that Newt agrees w/her is a “cheap shot” and not worthy of those who profess to be the highly principled supporters of former Senator Santorum.

Santorum is a good candidate, and I would be just fine with him winning the nomination. But I firmly believe that Newt would be the better President: he’s got the plans, the contacts, the ideas, and the willpower. Santorum has a message that certainly appeals to social conservatives, but I just haven’t seen him show evidence of preparation to the same extent that Newt has.

So Maine's straw poll is almost as thrilled with Ron Paul. Not good news for Romney — a weak 39%, and only 3 points ahead of the symbol of libertarianism? And that's after the racist articles scandal. Maine might prefer David Duke over Romney! And that's a state that probably supported Zero with pompoms and tattoos.

Unless Romney didn't do much in Maine, good grief are people desperate to find an anti-Romney. Even I'm not that determined to vote against Mitt. If a straw poll means much, he must stink a skunk to people. Do babies scream when he looks at them?

Romney did not "win."

The RINOs in charge merely canceled those caucuses that voted against him. Excuse? Bad weather.

Just FYI, winter snowstorms are very rare in Maine, bringing everything in the state to a skidding halt ... or so the state GOP kahunas would have you believe.
