Skip to comments.A brokered convention: Jeb Bush vs. Sarah Palin

Santorums contraception boom Were all Catholics now, said Mike Huckabee wont hold up. Because were not. This race could well go to a brokered convention. If Jeb Bush is proposed, so Sarah Palin should be minutes later. She is now and always has been the singular Jacksonian voice in the original Tea Party phenomenon; the only one who can bring it to the mainstream. Her absence from the primary race has left a vacuum and no substitute has been found. Every other possible or potential leadership hopeful has risen and receded in this long Republican primary season.
The Bush secret agenda has been a subliminal theme for months with New Jersey Gov. Chris Christie as the favored proxy and pitchman. At CPAC it broke through to the surface: Al Cardenas, head of the American Conservative Union, says that Republican turmoil might lead to a brokered convention in which Jeb Bush would emerge as a possible alternative party nominee. It made Drudge this weekend.

Stay out of the Bushes!!!!
No more Bush’s. Another Bush would mean one of two things. An Obama win or a one term republican.
“We’re all Catholics now”??
Those laws don’t just apply to Catholics. They apply to everyone (except probably Muzzies).
I don’t understand why our side is trying to divide itself that way.
Yeah PDSer! The establishment thinks that Jeb or Christie are their Saviors if Mitt can’t do it. That’s why they keep on hinting about those two if there is a brokered convention
Conservatives have wanted a brokered GOP convention just for this reason: to go head to head with the establishment/country club Republicans and, we assume, emerge victorious. This works for me.
Heck, Ross Perot got 19% as a nut case, all she has to get is 24% more, the numbers are there!
Pissed off patriots vote!
The establishment pushed Dole and McCain, why not push a tired-a** name like Bush once again. They are truly insane but will do it
A brokered convention will guarantee the GOP gets their choice and conservatives will be left out in the cold.
So you would prefer Our Sarah as a savior?
Maybe you need a grip on perspective regarding saviors.
Read your Bible.
Jeb Bush?? Puh-leeze.
NO Bushes,,, period.
What is with all this Jeb Bush crap?? For Heaven’s sake, there had been a Nixon, a Dole or a Bush on every presidential ticket (with one exception) from 1952 to 2004. Enough with the establishment nominees!
Another hero Bush!
That’s why I’m glad Sarah said that no one should be afraid of a brokered convention — it’s well time that we have this fight out in the open and expose those elements within the party for what they are to everyone else. If the Elites force their way once again then it’ll be time to for us to start our new “second” party and the GOP go the way of the Whigs
In my opinion, a brokered convention only illustrates just how deeply divided Republicans really are, and no I’m not a Mitt supporter. I prefer Newt or Santorum. I figure we go on to get creamed in November no matter who gets the nomination.
I think opinions on Ms. Palin likely break down between those who think "Jacksonian" is a compliment, and those who think it isn't.
He would certainly galvanize the liberals - but so will Palin. Bring it on, I say! Sarah will galvanize the conservative base. I think this election may be a battle for the soul of America, and I want a REAL conservative to be one of the battlers.
Funny how the beltway repubs periodically roll out Jeb Bush’s name as a not-so-veiled threat.
Sarah Palin smartly reponded to the Jeb Bush nonsense by saying a brokered convention would not be a bad idea. If the Country Club Republicans try to put Jeb in charge, they will have to face Palin in the process - which will not be an easy thing to do. By that time, most conservative Republicans will probably be ready to coalesce around Palin for president, leaving Santorum and Newt behind. I am glad that she said what she said.
“So you would prefer Our Sarah as a savior?
Maybe you need a grip on perspective regarding saviors.
Read your Bible.”
Ever hear of a metaphor? I dont think he meant personal lord and savior, personal redeemer, messiah.
I think “savior” was being used in a political sense, vis-a-vis the republican party. It ain’t rocket science.
“I think opinions on Ms. Palin likely break down between those who think “Jacksonian” is a compliment, and those who think it isn’t.”
Excellent observation. Where do you stand on it?
Where did I say that Sarah was a savior? I was talking about the estsblishment. Goodness you PDsers hear what you want to hear, loon.
Back at ya, humblegrumbler.
Is there nobody in the party that can sit down and take a look at the history of the party and tell me what the difference he will make???
North Eastern liberal rino is not going to get votes in the heartland or the Bible belt. Just the stupid party being stupid if they think that will work.
You want a blow out win then get your base excited with a conservative and watch the coattails.
I've been pining for a brokered convention. But, if it's either of those two (Christie? He's just a catcher's Mitt), Obama wins term #2, bigtime.
It’s cute the way I can reduce you to childish name-calling with a simple two-word post.
If they ram Cristie or Jeb in to the nom. position I will stay home and NEVER vote for a republican again, ever.
All this talk about Palin being the eventual nominee via a brokered convention is nonsense. I think she made it quite clear she is not running in 2012.
If THIS is what is needed, and the voice of the people be damned, why not nullify the primaries, nullify the national election and auction the POTUS office on e-bay?
The bizarre thing was that Gingrich came out and opposed the Obama mandate days before Santorum even knew about it...and the press never reported it. This was while he was still in Florida.
That said, I think the winner is going to be Romney. Santorum has no selling power because he’s not personable, not conservative in any way except pro-life, and he is clueless about economics and has always voted for every government welfare program that came down the pike. Romney has no ideas, but neither does Santorum, and things will settle down after Santorum’s mini-bump with two non-binding caucuses and Romney will come out ahead again.
If it goes to a brokered convention, I think the winner will still be Romney. The GOP wouldn’t even want Jeb Bush in there (he’s much more conservative than they like) and I know they sure wouldn’t let Palin get into it.
Frankly, unless a giant airplane crash takes out all of them on their way to the convention, I think we have to work with what we’ve got and not fantasize.
I hope Sarah is doing some behind the scenes work, because if there is any truth to this rumor, you Jeb is lining up establishment GOP votes.
I disagree....Palin has always been about being the reluctant servant....she has stated so in so many words. If she was asked to serve in such a situation with the Establishment trying to get their guys in after the first ballot, I’m sure she would accept the challenge
And if they do, I won’t vote.
At best, he is trying to set us up.
I’m not the one who doesn’t have a life by sitting hours upon hours scouring FreeRepublic for threads that have Palin name in it to make snide remark. Seriously, that all you do. What a waste!! LOL!
Get out of da Bushes!
A brokered convention that dumps Romney for Jeb or Christie is a disaster and will re-elect Obama. It would be the elites and RNC just switching RINOs.
If we can’t get a conservative like Gingrich, Santorum or Palin, we are not offering America a real and good opponent to Obama. Another term for Obama & co. will put America so far down, it could be 50 years before we get back to pre-2008 strength. You, your kids and grand kids will be little more than 3rd world peasants.
The MSM would try to hang Social Security reform around his neck, but I don't think it is as powerful an issue as it once was.
No, you just post threads about her.
Seriously, that all you do.
Talk like caveman much?
Bingo! I think her comments have been hedged toward not running in the primaries, leaving a run in the election open by virtue of not making comments about such specifically. I’ve had the sense all along that she sees being drafted at the best way of seeking POTUS. She has stayed above the fray and not wasted time with debates that have done little more than dilute the standing of all who have participated.
The Bushes are so liberal there is no way I could ever vote for their New World Order which is what we are fighting now.
