It is important to note here that Team Romney is still attacking Newt. NRO - which is an arm of the Romney campaign, is calling for Newt to get out, again. Drudge is still focused on Newt, and Team Romney is buying advertising time to attack Newt, starting in Michigan of all places.

Why would this be?

The answer is this: Romney knows that Super Tuesday can do a lot more for Newt than it can for Rick. Rick Santorum, even should he pull off some wins, will be in the unfortunate position of waiting to see if a few states assign him delegates later, which they are under no obligation to do because of his failed ballot access and delegate fielding. In the few places he is positioned to win, he will likely net very few delegates over his opponents.

On the other hand, Newt could net more than 70 delegates from Georgia alone. Mitt will sweep the NE states and take nearly all of their delegates. Newt would also benefit more from wins in the close states, since he would not have to beg to receive delegates later from a bunch of Romney supporters who are running the show.

Romney knows that Newt is still positioned to be the leader or close to the leader in delegates after Super Tuesday, and that is if he sees no bounce whatsoever for the next three weeks. Then there’s AL and Texas soon after.

Romney knows that Gingrich is his greatest threat.

Justices Roberts and Alito....what did Newt's endorsement of Dede Scuzzyflava get him?

Oh yea, ZIP-ZERO-NADA! He endorsed a socialist just for kicks!

And then there was Natzi Pelosi's loveseat....

Newt's demonstrated some pretty poor judgement on many occasions!
